New TommyKaira Spoiler

New TommyKaira Spoiler
I have been wanting a spoiler to put on for a while now and have been torn on which one to get. i was between the autokits-x, oem, and TommyKaira. I didnt like how the oem spoiler didnt follow the lines of the rear tail lights. the autokits-x spoiler looked a little too bulky, and the TommyKaira spoiler was really expensive. I decided to go with the TK spoiler. I had to order it from Japan, and it came gel-coated. It needed quite a bit of filling, sanding, glazing, and painting, but the fit is quite good for an aftermarket spoiler. I just got it installed and think it looks good. It helps balance the front (with oem chin-spoiler) and rear better.
I also got my steering wheel rewrapped in better leather, added 1/16" padding for a thicker feel, had the leather perforated on the sides, and added blue stitching.

Hey, really looks good! Makes the car look much sportier...after all it is the Sport model. In my opinion, the chrome strip just doesn't belong on the Sport models.
When we first started shopping for a new G Sport I was having issues with the rear design and having a hard time getting past it...to the point that I even visited a BMW lot (I know, what was I thinking?). The whole rear had something going on that looked odd to me, especially the chrome strip...then it happened...walking the dealer lot I spotted a Sport with a rear lip spoiler. That was it! Man, what a difference!
When we purchased our new G I went directly to the parts department before driving it off the lot to order a rear lip. After seeing your install pic I can't wait to get the call to pick ours up so I can slap it on. It's OEM, but anything is better than the chrome strip.
I know there are many of you that like the chrome strip, so I'm not slamming your taste...just expressing mine. I actually like it on the M, just not the G...especially the Sport.
Again, great job on the install, especially all the prep work!

I think the spoiler looks like a bigger version of the OEM spoiler. I'm not a fan, looks too big IMHO. But the steering wheel, that's another story. I REALLY like that! Well done!!!

since my photos were taken with my iphone, here are some higher res photos showing the differences between the oem, autokits x, and TK spoilers:
Tommy Kaira- lip goes over chrome piece and flows with the "shape" of the tail lights. this was the closest i could find to a traditional lip spoiler.
OEM- replaces the chrome trim. is half lip, half wing. it has the characteristics of a wing on the edges, and the characteristics of a lip in the middle. if it was different on the sides and flowed with the tail lights, i would have gotten this one:
Autokits x - never seen it in person, but it looks to be bigger than the TK and flares larger in the center. if it stayed tapered to an edge the entire length of the spoiler, i probably would have gone this route since it was much cheaper than the TK spoiler.
