rear deck rattles
Does anyone else experience their rear deck, where the bose speaker is, rattling either when the music is up or just driving down a road that is not smooth as a baby's butt? my 2010 G is only 5 months old with 3700 miles and that thing rattles like my old VW.

OMFG my car got that rattle too!!! And i suspect it's because i got the car tinted!!!
Maxfinity do you know if they take apart the rear deck panel to install the tint? Cause when i drove the car home from the dealer it wasn't there, but the 2nd day i got her tinted i started hearing the rear deck rattling over bumps. WTF!!

The film goes between the windshield and the brake light lens.
The tint guy didn't have to take the rear deck apart.
I watched him do the complete job.

Yep...same thing with 1,500 miles. Rattle seems to come from adjacent to the Bose speaker on the passenger side. I'm always nervous to have the dealer take things apart. Was driving an 8 year old BMW prior to acquiring the G....not one rattle in that car. Apparently you need to spend more than $40,000 to get a rattle free car....grrrrr.

it's driving me nuts. when i'm trying to have a conversation with people and the radio is off, all i hear is this constant rattle. and i thought vw/audi was bad. geesh. so if there a fix to this? i mean, i can take it to the dealer, but what can they do? take it apart and put it back together again, but will that solve the problem?

1. Drive car for 30 seconds or less. Starting the car and idling while eating a sandwich is a reasonable substitute.
2. Find random TSB and tear apart the dash. Place all parts face down on rough concrete or oily bench.
3. Install "foam insulation kit" while chatting with girlfriend/wife/ex on cell phone.
4. Haphazardly reinstall dash.
5. Throw away spare parts and push protruding foam into cracks with screwdriver.
6. Recheck for rattle by starting car and idling. Eat another sandwich.
7. Leave oily prints and scratches to demonstrate repair was attempted.

In my recent experience, I had rear window re-tinted with llumar pinnacle 15. It involved the tint installer to remove my entire backseats to properly remove the old tint and then applied the new tint. Within days, I started noticing a slight tapping noise coming from the back windows.
What I tried to address the problem:
- extended the seatbelts at maximum length and then retracted them
- verified nothing was tapping against the seat belt buckles; cleared my backseats to ensure no objects were on top
No luck. It wasn't until I had my wife drive the car while I was in the back seat trying to locate the sound. During the inspection, I pressed on the rear speaker tray on the passenger side and felt/heard a plastic snap. Like a plastic fastner that was seated properly
Since then, I haven't heard anymore rattles. Even if the tint installer didn't remove the back seats, I would have someone drive the car while you search for the rattle...pressing down on the interior piece trims. Hopefully it's a simple fix for you. I hate rattles. Makes my car feels cheap. Good luck!
