Constant need to correct steering

Maybe it's just me, but my wife mentioned the same thing this morning. Every time I drive the G, I feel like the wheel constantly needs input to keep it straight. Pretty sure the car isn't out of alignment, but the slightest steering wheel input seems to almost over correct any drifting action. I want to blame it on some super sensitive steering mechanism, but figured I'd see if anyone else notices the same.

It must be an alignment issue. My car tracks as straight as an arrow and I have none of the over correcting issues you mention. If you're under 12k miles an alignment will be covered under warranty. Are you stock or are you running springs/coilovers or any suspension mods?

Is the surface of the road you are driving on grooved? If it is, it could be tramlining. But as others have said, definitely get your alignment checked.

Our car only has 5k miles and completely stock. I may have overstated the correcting issue, as it is more subtle, but very noticeable and quite frequent to the point of being annoying. Will check the tires for uneven wear and call the dealer.

Do you have a sport package? What are your road conditions?

^yup. Often times you can't actually see the grooves in the pavement that may be causing it to pull either way....alignment check for sure.

Mine tracks dead straight....hands off the wheel at any speed.

Alignment.
Check your tire pressure too. Maybe it's overinflated - makes the steering feel too light.

My 2010 non-sport sedan tracks perfect.
When I picked it up I had my air gauge with me. The tires were set to 45psi. I brought them down to the correct 33psi, before I drove the car home.
Have you checked the tire pressure?

The the steering on the G seems to be very susceptible to road conditions as well. If the road is uneven or particularly bumpy the wheels will try to follow the road rather than track straight. If the car is wandering all over on smooth level road (like the interstate) its likely an alignment issue....

Agreed with the above. I had an M35x and that thing tramlined like crazy. I haven't had any issues with my 08 Gx or 10 GxS so I would definitely get that checked.

Of course, road surface will definitely wreak havoc as mentioned above so get those PSI's checked and then check the alignment for sure. Sounds like you have an issue there.

G'luck!

I have the same problem. I plan on visiting the dealer and express my concerns.

The car is annoying to drive---constantly re-correcting the steering. I checked the tire

pressure as recommended by the dealer (phone conversation) but this only helped

slightly.

My concern is that the problem is Not correctiable? I have owned many new sport cars, this is not normal.

Is there any chance that the car is aligned correctly--and the problem is inherent
in the vehicle?

I have a 2010 g37S Sedan

Depending on where you live, some roads are slightly angled for drainage. Down here in the South, lots of the road ways are like this to minimize standing water on large highways and interstates where speeds over 60 mph are allowed. My car is lowered, and tracks straight, and tracked straight even before and after alignment was done. However, on certain interstates around here, i find my car wanting to go to the right a little if im in the right hand lane, and tend to want to go left if im in the left hand lane....otherwise on some other roads it tracks perfectly straight. It is possible that your front end may be out of line. If the wifes driving the car, you know how women can be haha.....just going over potholes, speedbumps, anything in the road....all of which could affect front end alignments. You never know haha

I know in my 2010 G non-sport i can drive for miles on a level road without correcting the steering. Maybe its a Sport issue but i don't think so. I cruise this forum all night while im at work and i've seen many complaints ranging from the tranny to the sunroof, not many people have complained about alignment issues. But I would definitely get that checked out.

Mine was out of alignment when delivered. I had to get an alignment done the first week....
