Experience at the dealership PART 2!!! Need more opinions

OK all, if you remember I had an interesting experience picking up my car a few weeks ago. Wellllllllll there's some issues after that. I had the midnight black grill installed by the dealership along with the front chin spoiler. Well the dealership put 2 gouges in the bumper above the grill when they installed the grill. One on each side of the Grill. an then they scratched along the side of the grill.

Passenger side

<a href="http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/rohardi/?action=view&current=car1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/rohardi/car1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

drivers side

<a href="http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/rohardi/?action=view&current=car4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/rohardi/car4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Along with a HUGE scratch going vertically on the drivers side of the grill

<a href="http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/rohardi/?action=view&current=car3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j143/rohardi/car3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Then they also put a bunch of scratches in my in my front chin spoiler. I noticed this the day after I took delivery. I took the car back to the dealer and they had it "fixed" They had my car for a week and they did a ****ty job.... The paint in the areas they worked on is all swirlly in different direction rough in areas. They tried to buff out the scratches on the chin and that didn't work at all. It looks like they actually scuffed it up even more by buffing it. Clearly they tried to just fix the areas THEY damaged and it all doesn't match up. My issue is that I bought a NEW car and I want a NEW car, not one with some ****ty *** body work. So I intend on taking it to the dealership and telling them that I want the WHOLE bumper/chin taken off and painted top to bottom. That's the only way it's going to look NEW and factory. Am I incorrect for feeling like I need to start acting like a ***** at this point??? I'm already getting my first 12 months worth of oil changes paid for, should I be looking for some sort of other compensation? and if so, what could I get at this point???

no you're right for feeling this way, but they could easily refuse you. I say make a huge fuss so that other people get notice of their shiety services and threaten to call corporate.

I don't understand how they could refuse. THEY damaged MY car while working on it... they have preformed sub par work while trying to repair the damage THEY did to MY car... This is at a high end dealership. I don't know if anyone here is familiar with Inskip in RI but they sell everything from Infiniti to BMW, Benz, Porsche, and Bentley.... So you wouldn't expect a fly by night operation....

Wow, Rohardi. Sorry to hear that. I'm definately floored. I didn't think Inskip performed sub-par service like this. THey do have a body shop on the campus, actually, the next building over from Infiniti. Its between Infiniti and Audi. Thats probably a good thing because you can leverage that against your request. Its not like they'd have to send it out, they can perform the body work in-house. The service deparment has always been good to me. Tom Meir is a good guy, so definately bring it up with him.

I've been going to Inskip since 2005. I always request the same tech to work on my car because he's a talented guy, knows his stuff, takes his time and gets it done right. They even hand wash my car instead of bringing it through their car wash too. My suggestion is to use this experience to your advantage so they KNOW not to mess with you the next time (assuming you continue to go there) for service. Like i said, i'm floored because I would have expected this from a different dealership.

Best of luck, I hope they can make this right for you.

I'd get them to fix it at their expense and then never go there again.

WOW. that is truly embarassing on the part of the dealership. I would stay there and refuse to pay or even take the car until they fix it. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to have that happen.

Especailly on a grille install...are you serious? It just slides in, there is no reason there should be any scratches or anything. This is rediculous, the dealership needs to make it right

I'd consider demanding they replace the whole bumper and grill assembly with a NEW one, not a repaired one. This is totally unacceptable. You bought a NEW car and they delivered it damaged. It's a shame you didn't notice it immediately and refuse delivery.

That's what I'd have done.

On a related note...ANYTIME I have any work done whatsoever, I take before pics of the car (detailed pics) and then do a walk-around immediately following and if there is anything out of place or wrong I make sure it gets fixed on the spot

the problem is you left and noticed the damage a day later. they can always pull the 'if was perfect upon delivery' excuse. if they are a good dealership then they should repair their mistakes

Then again, they already tried to "fix" it, so they acknowledge the effed the thing up in the first place. Time to have a meltdown in the dealership.

I brought it back within 24 hours and they said it was clearly from tool marks from the grill instal. they tryed to fix it and it looks like ***. I'm taking it to the dealership for them to look at it after work.... I want the car to look like a new car. That's only fair. I did give them 40 some odd thousand dollars and all....

I'm very sorry to hear about the damage this dealership did to your new car. You have every right to be upset about it and to want this problem resolved to your satisfaction.

My advice is never accept "no" from someone who isn't authorized to say "yes".
That is to say, don't waste your time talking to people at the dealership who aren't authorized to say "yes" to what you want done to repair the damage to your car. Write down exactly what repairs you want to have done and make an appointment with the dealership's general manager. If he/she refuses to fix the damage to your satisfaction, then I would take the matter directly to Infiniti corporate and/or consult an attorney as to what legal recourse / options you may have.

Please keep us posted as to what happens.

Hopefully it won't come to this, but if necessary:
1. Get quotes from expert body shop
2. Go to small claims court with lots of photo documentation
3. Judge will rule in your favor
4. Dealership will pay because otherwise you can impound their property
