People take that thing for way more than it's worth haha don't live by those numbers, just use them as an indicator

Yeah, we've had this discussion about 1000 times, but it seems at least in my car and to many others who have carefully examined this, the DTE is set for an 18 gallon tank when we really have a 20 gallon tank. I run it to nearly 0 almost every time and there are always at least 18 gallons left. It's just a reserve or whatever.
Even if it's set for "empty" at 2 gallons, I don't think it's really 100% accurate on either screen. Especially because it changes pretty quickly depending on how hard I'm pressing the gas pedal at the moment.
It reminds me of the windows "copy file" dialog. "2 minutes remaining.....10 minutes remaining...56 seconds remaining."

There are 2 separate computers that display the MPG and the fuel consumption.
One on the instrument panel: wite (or red) monocrome display and the AV/Navi unit on the console. They use same sensor to calculate the mpg and miles left till empty.
If the mpg is not reseted on both at the same time, they will show different values calculated from the last reset.

I think this is a common feature that car has, because I g6 and g37 both does that. On the g6 when its gets to around 30 miles left it turns into --- and the fuel light comes on.
Also do not over fill the tank. It confuse the two computers I think and then makes the services engine soon light come on.
