Curious how the M37 compares to the G as far as acceleration, road handling, and overall feel? I know the M56 is a barnburner and I'd imagine the M37 is a bit slower than the G. The M just won wards best interior award so that's gotta be something to see. I also bet it's a very quiet ride too. Anyone had a chance to give the M a run?

My father just bought a M37x and I have to say I really don't care for it. Although the interior beautiful I have to admit, I don't care for the lines of the car maybe its because the wheels and tires are ugly and throughs off the look. The ride quality didn't seem any different than his 07 and not any better than my G37xs. Maybe the M37s would have been a better choice, it seems to look nicer with the upgraded wheels PKG.

I haven't driven the new M yet, but I'm underwhelmed with the exterior styling and its high entry price.

I just test drove one here in NJ after I've turned in my 2008 G35x and leased my 2010 G37x. The car is beautiful inside but the accelleration is not the same as the G sedans as you'd expect. It felt like that it would be around a second or so slower to 60 and maybe half a second slower to the quarter mile with maybe 5mph slower trap speed.

I did not like the handling eaither. There was too much body movement in the curves and the weight transfer druing rapid lane changes is very annoying in comparison to the G37. Although it is definitely better in terms of road holding in comparison to the Mercedes E class (I drive one as a company car) and not anyway at the level of the new 5 series BMW (that I drove in Germany a month ago).

I would take the G37 over an M37 anytime. The M is ridiculously expensive (with options) and unless you weigh 400+ lbs and need the interior roominess, it is not worth the money.

My dad test drove both the 56 and 37 and from what I felt from inside the car, the 37 felt exactly as fast as his 07 M35 but MUCH more raspy sounding, for some reason you could hear too much engine noise in there. On the other hand the 56 was amazing, nice grunt to it on startup and it was FAST lollll. I would opt for a M56S.

My thinking would be the people who buy sports sedans like the G would not be thrilled with the same engine on a heavier and bigger car. I'm sure it has better amenities and more in terms of "luxury" items, and serves that market well for people who want those items with slightly better mpg, a lower entry price, and don't care about how fast it gets off the line.

Now the V8 model, on the other hand...

The M37 wheels just ruin the whole car. The 56S though, is pretty sweet. But it's heavy. The 0-60 times etc. that I have seen make it a tad bit slower than the G37 sedan.

M37 = 535i = woman's car or a dude who needs more room than 335i-G37 or who can't afford 550i-M56

M56 = 550i = man's machine

I didn't test drive the new M, but it looks like a S T R E T C H E D.....G to me. More weight and a lot more dollars.. Infiniti Blew this one. BTW, to all the mebers that refer to their Dads as test driivng the M, I AM THAT DAD !!! ha, ha. SUX getting old.

I've sampled both the M37 and M56 and find I like the M37 a little more. It's lighter curb weight combined with the responsiveness of the VQ37VHR make for a more responsive package. Compared with the G37, the new M offers more comfort and luxury, but does so at the cost of performance. The interior is noticably larger and everything seems scaled up for an older customer base. Some packages boast tech amenities like the blind side monitor that let's you know if a car is too close for a safe lane change (some people could really use it all the time). Compared with the outgoing M45/35, the new M is outstanding and an improvement in just about every area.

If the M can have the 5.6, why not the G also? G56 - sounds pretty good.

Lexus has the IS-F, BMW has the M3 & M5, No reason they couldn't wedge the 5.6 V8 under the Gs hood I'd be willing to be a test driver for that one for sure
