MPG and armrest question

1. Is the MPG computer actually accurate on the dash?
2. What is the slot in the rear armrest for? I discovered it after a year of having the car -___-

Yeah, I didn't notice that until a few months after I got the car either. It's on the side, if I recall correctly -- a hard plastic shell built into it.

I wonder if you're supposed to put the first aid kit in there or something. If you go to Infiniti USA - Build and Price a 2010 Infiniti Vehicle - Enter Zip Code and click on "view standard features," it claims there's a first aid kit in the rear center armrest.

Mine just came in a leather pouch like the owner's manual -- I keep it in the trunk. Unless the 2010 model actually has a separate compartment in the armrest for the kit, maybe that's what it is?

As for the MPG calculator, I've found it's accurate. You can always reset it and test for yourself using the trip meter when you fill up.

1.
I originally thought the MPG computer is not accurate. No matter what I tried, I get around 16 MPH and 15 MPG. Realizing that I'm rolling in traffic most of the time, I now believe the MPG computer is indeed accurate.

2.
Its for my son to hide his toys. My son showed me his new found hiding place since day one I got the car.

I will post a pic tomorrow of it tomorrow.

I have a 09 and I also got the first kit in a leather case with valcro which I stick in my trunk. If it was for first aid kit, they should have just put the first aid kit in there. On the other hand I can also see that hole being used for a first aid kit. Can't think of anything else.

And thank you for the mpg feedback. I'm goig on a 2000 mile trip this week so I wanted to make sure it's accurate.

The pouch in the arm rest is for the first aid kit. I had that "hidden pouch" starting on my 05 G. I had an 05, 07 and now '10. Each time, the salesman put the first aid kit in it.

The MPG computer/calculator is the most accurate of any car I have ever owned. It is usually dead on or even a tenth low, but has never read too high.

I'll have to look for the "slot" as I have no idea what you are talking about. lol
