Now that I think about it, when I'm fulling clutched in, my heel is not touching the floor. Only when I'm right around the catch point, I'm pivoting for a smoother engagement. Maybe all those squats, deadlifts, and toe-raises are paying off!

I was scared to attempt with my wife, what you seem to be accomplishing with yours. Therefore(and for no other reason), I ended up with a 7AT instead of the 6MT. I wanted the 6MT and knew I should have got it. I regret my decision almost everyday. Now I have deep-seeded hatred and resent towards her and we're in counseling because of it(kidding). Props to you.

My wife is 5 foot flat.....The first time she drove my car she did well, until we got home 10 feet from our front door she stalled it. I think your girl is doing well...Im 5 11 and I have issues with the clutch...less just face it the engagement on these cars is hard to master. But my wife has noticed that I have made improvements as of late....

I don't think I've ever been able to keep my heel on the floor with any clutch. My whole foot moves. I still think it must be a very forgiving car if she only killed it three times.

Wow I thought I was the only idiot who decided to teach my woman how to drive a manual on my G :-)

But it sounds like everyone here has had a pleasant experience. I taught my wife on my previous G37 coupe, and she took off while I was explaining to her how to do it. When I got my current 08 G35 sedan, she thought the clutch was easier on the G37 coupe. I felt the opposite, go figure.

I tell her the same thing as you guys; this is one of the hardest cars to learn driving a manual on. When I took her to test drive a Volkwagen CC in manual, she was amazed how easy that car was compared to mine.

Btw my wife is 5'2"

^ Once you learn on this car, you can drive a Honda/Acura like an F1 pro.

This thread cracks me up. This is the exact reason I have a 6MT; I don't want my wife to drive my car! She also has no desire to either (partly because she knows me so well, and knows how I am about my cars).

She claims she can drive a manual, but I have been with her for almost 15 years, and have never seen it.... I don't know, maybe I will get the nerve to let her try sometime.

I hear your pain. My oldest daughter will be turning 16 in a few weeks. I'm sure it will be a horror show but I feel obligated to teach her how to drive a manual. If she can master this clutch then any other will be easy. Please pray for my sanity and my poor car.

It may be a good idea to send her to a few hours at a driving school.
