Hard to believe a manufacturer could come up with something so outlandish. Nevertheless, i do occasionally run into apparently intelligent people who have bought the car and like its looks. I guess they are esthetically challenged.

Some people are actually painting the Acura grille body color (on several different Acura models, not just the TL) and it seems to make a big difference in the look of the front end.

If you really want to see a car that looks like it's smiling at you, take a peek at a new Mazda 3.

Former 2002 and 2006 TL Owner

I've owned 4 different Acuras ranging from a 1989 Acura Integra to a 2006 Acura TL and I can honestly say I would still be an Acura customer if it weren't for that hideous monstrosity they are now trying to sell for close to $40K (i hate both the front/beak and the back). I bought the 2010 G37 two months ago and have no regrets whatsoever. The G37 feels so much more like a sports sedan it's amazing that Acura is even in the same category. The TL should be strictly compared to Tauruses, Accords, and Camrys. The looks, power, technology, and actual drive of the G37 are far superior to the TL. Even the tranny that some people hate feels wonderful to me. It's aggresssive when need be but tame enough for everyday commuting. Gas mileage has been consistently coming in at 18-19 which is the same as my 2006 TL.

Any existing TL owners wondering what car they will get next should do themselves a favor and check out the G37. You won't regret it.

I used to share a 2003 Acura TL Type S with my cousin for almost a year. It was a fun car too.
The new TL is a joke. Even the current Accord looks way better. 305 horsepower and 273 lbs-ft. of torque??? G37xS Sedan FTW.

^^i knew a duong, he was vietnamese from VA. are you?

im going 2 be different and say the new TL has grown on me. yeah, it def could be better looking, but the proportions arent bad and the interior is rich. if they made the TL or TSX in coupe form, id probably be driving one of those, but im glad they dont b/c i love my g37x coupe!

Hello,

I must confess that I'm a current Acura owner (2009 TL SH-AWD). While I think the G37x is a great car and an excellent value, I chose the Acura mainly because of:

1) interior space and leg room were superior in the TL (no matter what the web site says, the TL is roomier for a 6'4'' guy like me);
2) Sound system much better for my ears at least in the TL;
3) G37x interior felt cheaper to me;
4) Better steering wheel;
5) Close dealership while the nearest Infiniti dealer was more than 80 miles away and the Nissan dealership in my city is a "shady" dealership;
6) Knew the owner of both Honda and Acura dealership and knew I would get great service.
7) Prefer the SH-AWD system of the Acura to the Infiniti Attesta-T (sorry for spelling);
8) Great sports seats in the TL.
9) Super nice 3.7 engine, it's a joy to rev the car for the sound of it!
10) Can use Navi while moving;
11) Dealership instal my mods and I get a clear agreement on what can void my warranty and so forth;
12) Better paint quality than the G37 imho.

My main gripe about the TL are:
1) 5sp tranny that rob the TL of some of its pep (6sp manual does 0-60 in 5.2 vs. 5.9 for the 5sp auto);
2) Big car: 8 inches longer than the G37 and 3-4 inches wider;
3) Head restraints could be less slouched forward.

While I like the look of the TL, I also like the G37x a lot. The G37x has a lot going for it:
1) Quicker than the TL AT vs. AT, althought the new 6AT in the TL will probably make the TL as fast or around as fast;
2) Nice exhaust note (G37 coupe)
3) Nice interior space in the Coupe, I was surprised I could fit in, drive it and enjoyed my time at the wheel!;
4) Nice RWD feeling, the AWD system can give you the best of both world with ;
5) Nice steering feel.
6) Nice clean, understated look;
7) Smaller than the TL but slightly bigger than the TSX;
8) And many others!

So I'm driving and moding my TL but I keep a close eye on Infiniti for the next gen of G sedan and coupe. The interior quality will surely improve so it'll be time for extensive test drives! 2012-2013 will be great years for me as the TSX, TL, G will probably move to the next gen or get a MMC. It'll be great cars for sure...

I'm eager to see the next gen of G37 sedan and coupe, might make the switch by then!

My 2 cents,
-YetiTL

Still have an 03 TL that my mom drives. Good, reliable car.

So newer Acuras allow you to control nav while you're driving? Is that an Acura thing or a 2010 thing? I thought I heard someone say that newer cars allow you to do this (saw my friend do it in his 09 335i).

I can only speak of my experience but the 2009 and 2010 TL allow you to do this.

Not really, if you look at the gearing of the 6MT vs 5AT, you'll understand why pretty easily. It's done with a clutch drop at 3700-4000 RPM, there seems to be a protection mecanism that stops you from lauching from higher RPM...

To me it seems on par and not much more suspect than a G37 sedan doing 0-60 in 5 seconds...You also see some (R&T I think, or maybe C&D) fact sheets with the 5-60MPh in 5.8 for the Acura vs. 5.9 for the G37 sport (6mt vs 7at of course).

There is so many factor in launch times, IMHO you're better taking your own car, buy a G-tech or go to a drag strip and measure it for yourself...

And who drive their car dropping its clutch regularly???

Sounds like a recipe for some massive torque steer. Or are the high-end 6MT TLs all AWD these days?

can't wait to dump the 08 rdx turbo.
what a piece of garbage, and the dealer(s) are zero help.
they tried clipping me for brakes.
my wife brings the rdx in, here is the response.
you have 2 mm of pad on front
and 4mm of pads on the rear.
price obscene.
400 per axle not including rotors to be replaced.
total was almost $1,300.00
it cost me 187.00 for front and rear pads.
my friend had them cut for 0
I gave him a 100
total $287.00 vs $1,300.00
so far 2 dealers both 5uck ahole.
goodbye & good ridens, another g on deck hopefully.

Yes the 6MT only comes with AWD so the torque steer is pretty much non-existent.

Your dealers are a$$ h***s and you do well to take your business elsewhere.

I have great service and great price. But seriously, I don't think you can judge a whole brand by 1-2 dealers. Or maybe you can...at least you can find a good car dealer in your area , which is cool...
