i find it funny that Infiniti offers the rear camera standard, but the sonars are an optional extra (with the premium package).....its usually the other way around.
Never the less, only the Euro model G's have front sonars are an option. Not available in the US....which is stupid. front sonars are really useful

they won't do it in the front b/c it is useful but for those people who park in NYC every single day, the parking sensors will be broken in no time. older clients care more about it backing up and don't trust the cameras -- you cannot please everyone.
it goes bcak to not having a compass in teh mirror when you get navigation... we all went through that rant already

Yea I've got the rear sensors too with camera but one day I'd like to lower my car and not knowing how close my front bumper is to the sidewalk/parking stoppers would concern me. Those things are pretty high sometimes.

My car beeped at me when I was maneuvering out of a parking space once, and a message popped up that said something about an obstacle in front. I didn't know it had that feature until then.

Yes it is, it's a 2010 G37x. It hasn't done it since so I don't know what it takes to trip it. It's probably not sonar because it doesn't go off when I pull up really close to something. I was in a weird parking spot at the time, hard to explain, so maybe that had something to do with it.

to be honest, i don't understand the need for "parking sensors". if you need a sensor to tell you how to negotiate parallel parking, you shouldn't be driving (at least in a city) in the first place. a driver must have an understanding of where his/her vehicle is without a computer's help.
of course, most damage is probably from other drivers parking by braille and using your G as a bumper. in this case, the G having sensors will not help. it may have helped the other guy (who shouldn't be behind the wheel), but the best defence is to try and avoid parking in a trouble-prone spot.
i.e. park at the end or beginning of a row and leave lots of room for other vehicle to get out/in...something like that.

I had a reverse camera and front/rear sonars on my old Thai Camry ('06/'07 or so). Since then, a reverse camera has virtually been a requirement. The front sonars are nice, but I will have to try to find the photo of the hole in the bumper where my wife hit the barbeque.
I tried to explain to her that was why I always backed in!

Trust me... sensors are a good thing.
