It's going to happen if you actually drive the car. I dinged up the lower front bumper the very first night I had the car pulling into the garage.

Stuff happens - don't dwell on it or you're going to be miserable the whole time you own the car.

Haha, no, I think I'll just be miserable today. The car is just too much fun to be miserable with, even if some ingrate scuffs it up.

Just painful, after driving a beater for years that I didn't care about (i even appreciated the battle scars)....

Yup -- nothing you can do about dings/scratches. It's bound to happen sometime. I had my car for 5 days when some dumb a$$ in front of me ran off onto the shoulder, kicked up a bunch of gravel which peppered the front of my car. Luckily I got away with only a couple tiny chips. Sucks, but I guess it's better to get the first scratch out of the way early on...

It's the inevitability of this that keeps me from investing serious bank on a car. As bad as that hurts on the G, imagine what that would feel like on a GTR or better.

Every time I see a construction vehicle dropping rocks and dirt clauds like land mines or ram into large objects ranging from 2x4's, sheet rock, exhaust parts to even boulders that's the one thankful thought I get as I'm cussing. That seems to help make it more bearable for me.

As did I

I then proceeded to go online and search for cleaning products . I finally pulled the trigger on a Porter Cable + a few $$$'s in Optimum Products.
Carnuaba Wax, just on a side note, is damn expensive! A tiny little tin can for maybe 5 applications for almost $300 (P1S something)...

Get used to it. The paint on these cars is very easily scratched. IMO, it is the worst thing about the car.

I got my first scratch within a couple of weeks of my new 09. My daughter run her bike's handle across the passenger's side fender.
It gave me heart attack but it looked worse than it actually was.
I was able to buff that out completely.

2 weeks ago, after 7-8 months of ownership I got my first dent. Come to think of it, in the parking lot at work, I should be glad it took that long:

But, I have an appointment with a PDR outfit in a few hours and they should take that out.

Otherwise, cars vs scratches/dents is a loosing battle. I just try to minimize the casualties.

i have 2 fat neighbors (father and son) that have to squeeze through my car everytime they walk past. both of them are absent minded and dont pay attention...so there are scratches up and down the passanger side of my car......the drivers side however is spotless lol.

i think my first scratch was from a parking garage....i think the driver scratched it

I hope you mean $30, and not $300. $30 is about right for P21S. $300 is not.

Apply it thin. You should get way more than 5 applications unless you're caking it on. The same amount will be left on the paint regardless of how thick or thin you apply the product, and applying it thick just makes it hard to remove. You should barely be able to see it after application before wiping away the excess.
