Rear windows that are close to vertical should have wipers such as SUVs, wagons, & vans. Not really necessary on angled rear windows IME.
I'd MUCH rather have side turn markers available though (the M has them).

I remember back in the day the hatchbacks also had 'em. I think the CRX had one, and I drove (my parents') similar first-gen acura integra in high school in the early 90s that had one. During that time those hatchback rear windows were in-general sloped much more horizontally than they are today.

I think a few hatches still have them today though. But now the industry standard seems backwards to me. It seems cars with near- vertical rear windows like SUVs or even the Mazda 3 would be less in need of a rear wiper. But those are the cars that are likely to have them.

Plus as a Cleveland native...I know everyone warms up their cars prior so its not difficult brushing the ice/snow.

Steering wheel YES, back wiper NO.
I meant after you clean off the snow and drive off...with lake effect if comes down so hard and fast it's crazy....wipers are the only thing that helps ..rear defoggers are too slow by themselves. But for most people this would not even make sense hence why it should be part of a winter package for the X model ...(rear wiper + heated steering).

You might as well buy that fancy lil Chevy Aveo in your example pic since it has the luxuries you desire

My 2004 350z had it. It was actually good to have. I could see it being on the coupe, but not the sedan.

Looks like another example of the vertical hatch window with the rear wiper I was talking about. With a vertical window you'd think the water would just fall off -- or it would not get as much on it in the first place . I guess with the sedan style angled windows it's easier to accelerate and have the water roll off.

From what I've observed, most of the rear wipers come on cars that have a hatch or rear trunk that swings upward...(i.e. civic hatchbacks, Integras...) I think if the rear window moves with the trunk, there's usually a wiper. If the trunk can open without the rear window moving too, then the wiper isn't there.

This is just what I've gathered. I'm sure there are exceptions but for the most part this holds true.

Actually, when i overtake people, I love looking at their faces in the rear view mirror.
For example, today i was getting on to the highway, this girl in her 20s driving a TL started speeding as she knew my ramp was ending and wanted to get on to the highway. So i slowly applied the brakes, and let her pass... NOT... I floored my baby, got in front of her, looked in my rearview mirror, saw her shaking her head, and LAUGHED MY A** OFF!!!

But if the G had rear wipers, i would take them off at the dealership before i even got in the car. It has that smooth look on the back from the trunk to the rear glass. Why ruin it.
