Trunk release lift up automatically or not?

I'm wondering when you open the trunk via the remote or the switches behind the car or with the switch in the cockpit, does the trunk automatically lift up or do you have to lift it up? Mine just releases and sits there. I have to lift it up manually but there doesn't seem to be a handle any where to lift it up. Please chime in.
Thanks

Gotta lift it up yourself. Just use your fingertips underneath the edge of the hood where it meets the bumper.

yeah that's a euro feature. new mb and audi's do that. it's a real nice feature cause it gives you a lot of trunk capacity cause the trunk lid lifts complete over the trunk

OK, thank guys. I asked because my brother in law showed off his newly purchase 2010 VW Jetta total cost $19k. Guess what the trunk pops, the trunk lifts itself with the remote button. Me=amazed. Me=envious. No biggie though.

I'd rather have the manual lift. The auto is too slow for my tastes. I have it open, stuff inside and closed in less time than it would take to open.

^^^ I feel that way about the power seats. When my son jumps in the back, he hits the button, has to wait ten minutes, then gets in lol...?

actually you're thinking about the wront "auto trunk" you're thinking about the ones on the SUVs and the Vans.

this one is loose hinge that rolls up when you hit the unlatch button. but that's it. it's not motor driven.
