G37xS Sedan Passenger Airbag issue
I have a 2009 G37xS sedan...the passenger airbag light off will intermittently come on when there IS a passenger well above sufficient weight that this shouldnt happen. It will also intermittently come on when there is NOTHING in the seat. Infiniti says that they won't fix it until they can see it...the dealer spent exactly SEVEN miles in the car when I took it in...anybody else having this issue? FYI, my 2010 Nissan Altima does the SAME thing!

My 2010 G37x Sedan is doing the same thing with a 150 lb. person. The dealer said that their diagnostics indicated that the airbag system is functioning properly; I disagree. I plan to record video of the incident hoping they can escalate the issue with Infiniti corporate.

My 2 weeks old 2010 G37x sedan has been doing the same thing from day 1. This happens intermittently and doesn't go away even with restarting the car, the only way I've been able to make it right is parking the car and asking my passenger to exit then sit back in and the light turns off after a moment. Not only is this extremely inconvenient but also dangerous especially if you're travelling on the highway. I'll be taking it in to the dealer to get this checked out and see what they say.

The occupant detection sensor in the seat along with the seat belt tension sensor and buckle sensor all determine if the airbag should be on or off. If you passanger is moving around or is unbuckled the car will decide what conditions are safest for them. There is most likely nothing wrong with your car if there was the airbag warning light in the guage cluster would be on.

Was there any resolution to this?
Sorry to dig up an old thread but my 2009 G37x Sedan is doing this as well. It happens with my wife and myself (170lbs) sitting in the seat.
It's in the shop now and they managed to replicate the problem but are scratching their heads. Currently, they are at the "throw money at the problem" phase. They want to replace the seat bottom and, failing that, replace the airbag control module and I'm waiting on price quotes for those options.

Well, my dealer has had it for a week now and they are wanting to run with replacing the seat bottom. For $3300. $2700 for the seat bottom and 4 hours of labor. With no guarantee that it will work and if it doesn't work, I just eat the costs.
Not just "No." but "HELL NO!".
When I pressed my service adviser about any recourse if the first $3300 doesn't fix it, he mentioned that the original quote was low and it should have been closer to $4000 but he'll honor the $3300 number.
On the bright side, they did say that the airbag control module was listed as covered under the powertrain warranty (?!?). Haven't really figured that one out yet.
This seems to be a fairly rare issue for the G37 (I mean, including this post, I've only found 6 complaints) so I'm going to get a used seat (~$500) and do it myself. I didn't get to the point where I could afford a luxury car by gambling $3300 like this.
Edit: Found a WHOLE seat from a 2010 for $599 shipped on Ebay. Anybody else out there who wants to explore this avenue can look at TAE USED AUTO PARTS on Ebay. There are a few more from various shapes/years of G37 available for the same price.

Update: I had my dealer install the pick'n'pull seat and problem is solved. I think the new passenger seat is actually a "sport" package seat since it has the forward extendability on the seat bottom. In any case, it dropped right in and everything works.
Now I just need to figure out what to do with the old seat. It's big enough that it has to ship freight and I'm too damn lazy to figure out how that would work. I'm thinking of removing the airbags and mounting it to a steel base for apartment furniture (similar to what Clarkson did to his $1500 Porsche 928).
