It's just an axel-back, so it would be easy enough to do in your garage with some jack stands...

Tanabe

I just went under the car and will be able to do it without lifting the car. Just remove the two rubber mounts with screws and the muffler clamp and it's done. This is easier than I thought it would be, bravo Tanabe!

Hopefully, I'll hear from the vendor tomorrow to purchase these.

Thanks,
Wig

The Tanabes are good in that they aren't too loud, but to be honest, after a while they're barely louder than stock.

Bosssho, do tou have any up close pics of your install and where can I get these mufflers from?

Thanks,

Ron - did you notice any difference in sound with the Gen 2 intake? Of all the short intakes, I like the Gen 2 the best because of the heat shields. Please describe the sound changes with just the intake and stock exhaust.

I agree with your Dad. Why so big?!!! It's not a rocket ship, it's a car. This is the #1 thing keeping me from purchasing the Tanabe axle back.

I have not pushed the car yet since I have only 500 miles, but you can definitely hear the growl at 3,500 rpm' sand feel the pull. The Tanabe tips appear to be large but other designs are similiar and none at this price range has that deep throaty exhaust note. It sounded similiar to my 328I Bimmer with a Rogue Engineering exhaust that I sold recently.

I should have it in by Friday and I'll post some pics after install.

^^ You could always have the tips cut off, and put any number of custom tips on - oval, hexagonal, smaller round, dual....there's a million and one inexpensive, hi quality tips out there, 25 bucks a weld at the average muffler shop....

That in itself is a good reason to buy the Tanabe...

So, I was driving home today from work, and the car felt so slow! The G would rev, but accelerate so slowly. To date, the car has felt somewhat slow with the HFCs. What's the deal? No codes or anything.

Yeah I think the "honeymoon" of the initial impact of the HFCs may have worn out. lol
