I went with Pennzoil Ultra, but after reading the Pennzoil Ultra FAQ on the BITOG website, I'm not sure the Ultra contains esters, or even needs them. "To ester" or "not to ester" has me confused.
What it says:
14. Has Pennzoil® incorporated any type of Esters into the base oil blend for Pennzoil Ultra™?
No ester base oils were used or are required in the Pennzoil Ultra™ range.

IMHO the ester based oils are no better than anything else. "ester" has no special meaning to me. Mobil1 or Penzoil Ultra is all I'll use
The two times I've had the dealer do it, I bring my own oil and they're totally cool with it. The other times I change my own oil.

And as Pascal asked, do they cut you a break on the price if you bring your own oil?

True ester oils do not shear, and can withstand operating environments that would completely obliterate (literally) a coventional (dino) oil.

My first oil change was at 2000 miles with the dealer. It's been changed every 3000 miles since with Motul at a friend's shop for around $60 each time. Got the tranny and dif done last time as well. Can't really tell the difference from dino oil to fancy stuff, but if I pay the same as compared to going to the dealer, don't need to wait around for an hour, and can poke around the garage unsupervised while they work on the car, then it's good enough for me.
For those of us who use the sedan to commute, IMO the frequency of fluid change is more important than what we put into the car. Just my opinion.

$65 sounds way too much for a bulk-dino 5w30 non-synthetic oil change. I'd go somewhere else if you want that -- considering you can get the exact same thing for less than 30 bucks from pretty much any mechanic. Or even most car dealerships.
The Nissan Ester oil itself is expensive. Up to $11-$12 per quart if you buy it yourself.

Lol .
I meant that's the price if you buy it yourself instead of having the Infiniti dealership give you a $110 oil change with it. I don't know if they break it down by parts + labor for an oil change, but my guess is the "parts" section of that bill might come to even more than if you just buy the oil.
