Once the low batt indicator starts showing up, be careful about locking yourself out. I noticed that when the battery is low, the car allows you to lock your key in the trunk, passenger area etc....

yeah he probably picked up a car that had the key cover on... I confused a couple of people do when I traded my car up for the 09.

not that I ever plan to use the key hole it's nice to be able to roll up my windows if i forget to on the outside so i left the keyhole exposed this time.

Although the life of the battery varies depending
on the operating conditions, the battery’s
life is approximately 2 years. If the battery is
discharged, replace it with a new one.

Since the Intelligent Key is continuously receiving
radio waves, if the key is left near equipment
which transmits strong radio waves, such
as signals from a TV and personal computer, the
battery life may become shorter.
I never realized leaving it next to computer would shorten the life, but I always have it right next to my computer...

^ good find. I didn't know that. Also heard to keep it away from cellphones, at least a few inches away.

Mine's started showing a couple of months ago.... Still works fine.

I'll wait until I'm SOL!

Keep in mind that is a warning icon and does not indicate battery level. You may be in for a surprise.

It's amazing how quickly the keyfob burns up batteries. I still have the ORIGINAL battery in my 13 year old Maxima keyfob and it still works fine. Have already replaced the battery in my G with less than a year on it. So much for progress.

Sort of like the "low ink warning" on printer cartridges. I can usually get at least another 30 pics printed before it actually runs out.

Well, Amazon's selling a 24-pack for $22.99 + free shipping. But I'll probably just get the simple 2-pack for 3 bucks. That's a good idea to just keep one in the glove box.
