Just saw my friends new G37...

Hey guys...

What's up. A buddy of mine owns a sound shop and got a G37 a few weeks ago, and I couldn't believe it when I saw it today.

Had the damn car for 2 weeks, and has already modded more than most people on this site. Sitting on some sweet deepdish 20's, dropped, exhaust, chipped, intake, etc.

Anyways...he had it set up so he could watch movies/music videos from his iPod/iPhone while the car is moving. He set up a switch in the car, and is going to install it for me next week...he just wants me to get the correct Apple cable to plug it in, does anyone know which one I need/where to get it? It's awesome to have music videos playing, and great to watch movies on long trips.

Second, he had a reverse camera *factory* and said he will connect one for me, and put it right above my license plate, and can even put a microphone so I can hear behind me as well. He said he can also set it up so I can watch the reverse cam while I'm driving to see behind me.

Lastly, I noticed his screen was touchscreen, is that just because of the navigation? Or did they make changes towards the end of 2009? I had no idea they had touch screen versions, I have the non-navi version, and might is not touchscreen.

LOL I had a strong feeling that was the case. LMFAO, he made me think they upgraded the screen as like a 2009.5 thing, because he saw mine without touch, but I guess he didn't realize, lol i thought the same.

All you need for the Ipod cable is to get one that goes from Ipod to RCA (that is the cable with the yellow, red, and white plugs at the end). Also all have a touch screen I have a 2008 coupe and it's touch screen. If he knows the cables and such well enough he can enable the backup camera, although you will need an extra switch to turn on/off the backup camera during driving and another for watching movies.

The nav hack isn't hard to do...took me 20 minutes. However they don't like talking about it over here, there are other sites that have threads for it. I turned my blank button between the heated seats into a button for the movies, I wasn't worried about the backup cam during driving. But it looks OEM and easy to do.

Thanks bro, I will have to find one on the Apple site, he told me just to order that wire and he'd set it up for me. Excuse my ignorance, but why isn't it talked about it here? Is it illegal, or just unsafe? I wouldn't watch it, more so for passengers on road trips. Sorry if I broke any rules.

I'm not sure if I will have the back up camera to have the ability to be on driving, it just sounded cool. I definitely want to get it though, as it definitely helps park in tight spots. I didn't realize I could add it on aftermarket, he said he might even have some used cameras, etc. How much should a new camera run me? Also has anyone done an aftermarket install like this?

I'm going to try to get him to sign up on the forums...

Not sure why they banned the topic from here, but google is your friend, you could do it on your own. Asking is no big deal, as long as theres no details. I think they just don't want to be held accountable.

Ya I got the Nav, so the backup cam was already installed. Its only a single plug inside the spoiler though, so getting one through Infiniti shouldn't be too bad.

Yes, that's the right plug. I have the same one, works perfect and comes with a powersupply to plug it into a wall incase you use it at home or whatever.

Ya get him a name...more the merrier.

Yeah, no worries, I'm not that good with that type of stuff, so ill let the shop handle it.

Tons of stuff on google and g35driver even a wikiHow on it, LOL!

I wasn't sure if this was the right one because I saw composite, and I also saw component, and not sure what's what...

Is this the best cable for maximum video/sound quality? Is the sound quality comparable to cd quality? Theres no way to get HD quality on the screen, right?

Haha you seem like me, not to tech savvy. Well i do know for sure that you need a composite. Composite is regular 3 pin like in front of all TVs. component is like 5 wires for a better image and sound. Its on back of most new TVs. and no HD quality screen as far as i know.

Thanks man, yeah I'm not too good with the tech stuff...It's crazy that they sell this cord for $50, but I guess I have no choice. If I connect it using this cord, can I also play music through there, if im not playing videos?

As far as i know. YES and NO. YES when you put put ur car screen on AUX. But to take the full advantage of your G. Hook it up with the adapter they gave you so you can choose songs from on screen. And yea its crazy how expensive it is. I was looking for one myself. thanks for find it. Try searching for it on ebay you might find it cheaper but prob not the same quality.

Will this $50 cable also charge the ipod while it's in the G?

I also don't have NAV, and this back-up camera speak seems to be beating around the bush.... if someone can pm what exactly this is all about or email me at leong816@gmail.com, it would be much appreciated. Thanks
