Just saw my friends new G37...

Well I guess I should have looked at what you were posting. The cable I have (composite) plugs straight into the headphone jack and not the 30 pin docking port. I have an older iPod (some Beatles special edition) so I'm not sure if the new ones still output video through the headphone jack. I seriously doubt the cable you are looking at will charge the iPod. Can't be sure though because it looked pretty confusing. I saw three different cable ends on the box.... not sure what that's all about. If it were a three-ended cable then yes, you could charge off the USB, but you won't be getting any power through the composite connections. I have never seen such a cable (3-way) though. Mine was probably more around $10 than $50.

the oem apple cables do NOT charge the ipod by them selves, but it has a usb plug built in. This can be plugged via adapter into the cigg port in the arm rest. It does warm up a bit though, just enough that I wont leave the usb charger plugged in when Im not using it.
If you have an older Ipod (4th gen? dont quote me on that) you can get away with the headphone jack/cheaper cables. Anything newer, get the real ones.

I have an 4th Gen Ipod Video. Trust me don't get the cheap ebay audio/Video/usb charge port adapter for the IPOD. It works well when you don't plug in the USB for power (via cig adapter adapter). But once you plug it in, it fuzzes up the sceen and has static in the back ground.
Can anyone confirm that the OEM IPOD video adapter works well charging with our G's?
