Alarm indicator

Hiya all...I've been trying to figure out some kind of recognition of when the alarm is set and when it isn't. I assume when I lock the car the alarm is set, but shouldn't there be something to tell me so. I see that flashing light, but it's always on and I can't tell if the rate of flashes change or not.

If I remember correctly, you should see the the car with the lock symbol when your first lock your car. I believe this indicates the car is alarmed or something to that effect. Read your manual its in there.

Check owners manual page 2-27...

It also mentions that after you leave and lock the car;

Confirm that the security indicator light
comes on. The security indicator light
stays on for about 30 seconds. The vehicle
security system is now pre-armed.
After about 30 seconds the vehicle security
system automatically shifts into the
armed phase. The security light begins to
flash once every approximately 3 seconds.
If, during this 30-second pre-arm
time period, the door is unlocked, or the
ignition switch is pushed to ACC or ON,
the system will not arm.

Thanks guys...I really appreciate.

The trouble is/was that the light was flashing even when I wasn't locking the car...I'll pay more attention and report back.

Well, I really paid attention and it just doesn't work the way it's written in the manual...at least in my G.

After I shut the motor the indicator starts flashing; when I lock the car the flashing stops and the indicator stays lit for about 30 second; then it starts flashing again.

Which means, when I or anybody else appoaches the car they see a flashing light; but that doesn't indicate whether or not the car is locked!!!

Not the way it should be...
