Not sure if it works on the G haven't tried it yet but on the CTS it changes the gearing to be even more aggresive while having it in DS mode it will say on the dash its in competitive mode. Basically it had three different set-ups regular driving mode DS mode and Competitive mode.

There's only two modes for the G's VDC; Off and On.

you really only feel the difference if you're driving like you shouldn't be. the VDC can keep the car pretty tame, even with it off you can comfortably drive without too much worry, but open the throttle up don't be surprised if you get a little scared.

On a side note, i hardly notice a change on to off in my car on dry roads no matter how hard its launched. G37xs AT
If on dirt/snow/rain though, there is a huge difference.

Try going sideways in the dry.

I turned it off the other day (I have the G37S sedan) and floored it but there was not even any wheel-spin or peel out....is there anyway we can get a little bit of noise from the tires when we floor it at stop?

Put in DS, hold down the brakes, get it to 5-6k and let loose

Don't do it, your wheels will catch on fire.

Your ECU won't let you rev past 2.5k, the moment it detects that slip it will cut fuel off

I never really understood what DS was...but if I hold down the break and rev the engine at the same time doesn't that hurt the car?

Thats strange. If I turn VDC off I can stomp it from a stop and absolutely melt the tires. I can also catch a second most of the time as well (7AT). Don't do this very often as I prefer not replacing the tires once a year. On the other hand, it is serious fun!

I've needed to turn it off briefly a few times in the past few weeks as we've been bombarded with snow in the DC area. I got stuck in the snow and needed to turn off the VDC to help get the wheels moving again. When it's on, I think as soon as it feels the wheels spinning it tends to apply some braking to the rear wheels which makes it even harder to get moving again.
