I'm sure it was that elevation that reduced it down. My Texas hills were pretty flat.
On my trip I can see that my test area between Austin and Dallas dropped from about 700 to 550 feet above sea level (according to Google Earth), so I did have a little help there - but nothing like the climbs in your test.
