I'm on my second G ('06 G35 just traded for an '09 G37) and I have to say that the only car I've owned that was more reliable than my G35 was my Nissan Murano. And I think that says something...

I am on my second G too, but I have had cars in between them (Acura and Lexus). overall the G is a good car, but if you are planning to keep it for 10+ years, I would get a lexus or acura over the G. over the course of a decade, that extra money would be well worth it.

The G is an awesome car, and I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't a great car, but the lack of movement/resolution on the high frequency noise issue has changed my mind on the company. I was very loyal to the company until this noise appeared. This is not some faint noise that can be drowned out by cranking up the audio--it's very loud. It's not an issue that is being overplayed by car enthusiasts who are complaining about every minor thing they don't like about their cars, this is a serious problem. The noise is absolutely the worst issue I've had in over 35 years of driving, mainly because it's loud, distracting (=unsafe), potentially harmful to your ears, and Infiniti is not acknowledging and resolving the problem. I can't believe that a car listing for over $40K would have an unresolvable problem like this. I've driven a lot of different cars over the years, many of them pieces of junk by today's standards, all had their own problems, but each problem had an actual fix. You can read all the reviews you want in the car magazines and consumer reports, but pull up the high frequency noise thread on this forum and find the link to the 10khz frequency sample in that thread and launch it, crank up the volume, and see how long you can stand it. See if you think you could stand listening to that on your drive in or returning from work, or on a long road trip, then think about taking it into the dealer multiple times attempting to get it fixed and repeatedly getting "can't duplicate noise, etc.", then make your decision.
