I understand what your saying but if you go 3 years without a claim, you have now pocketed the difference and the $1000 ded. is cheaper aven with a claim. Also, if you tend to have a more than avererage number of claims, $500 is worth it. For the record, I carry a $2k deductable with no at fault claims so I am well ahead of the game, even if I am at fault.

I'm thinking his friend said "26-thousand" when he meant "26-hundred." Which is still high, but not bat**** insane.

I pay $576/yr ($48/month) for 100/300 $250 deductible on a 2009 G37x Premium. I'm 44, married, clean record (so far, but I can't help it - she's very happy at 80 mph). I'm in Ohio, so I'm sure that makes a difference.

Just got my new 2010 G37. I'm 38, married, spotless driving record, although my wife has some blemishes on her record. We also have a 2008 Nissan Altima. I guess I get slightly larger liability coverage amounts than most. It's a 250/500K policy, with 200K UIM, and full coverage on both cars and a 1000K deductible. Now here's the thing. My insurance company (a prominent one) first quoted me a six month amount of about $1500 for both cars. I said that seems high. I've been with you for eight years, never made a claim, have an advanced education, good credit -- what's the deal? They run it again to "find all deductions" and lower it by like $38. I say, no, I'm going to get some more quotes before I renew. I immediately get sent to a "policy specialist." She messes around and gets it lowered to about $1,350. I say no thank you and I'm about to hang up. Suddenly I'm asked to hold so she can check on something. A minute later she says that she "ran it again" and got $800 every six months for both cars. Now we are talking. I increased and tweaked the coverage a bit at that point and ended up at $905 for both cars, with the G37 being $532 (that price is with the pay in full discount). Ah, the power of being able to walk away from an offer.
