Question Door handle request switch - security threat?

The owner manual states you can push the door handle request switch once to unlock the door as long as your key fab is in range.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

So I am 100 feet from my vehicle someone else is by my car and can open it??? What am I missing? This seems like a major security threat!

I want it disabled.

lol at owner if someone steels your car if you're within five feet of it... i believe they normally wait until you walk away...

i had this same question when i was buying the car, and did a test myself, i had to be about 3 feet away for it to work, so no need to worry.

It seems like you have tested this out already and found out that the fob must be outside the car and within a few feet so this thread has served any usefulness it might possibly have had.

Actually yes it does (I got these from the online manual here http://www.infinitiusa.com/iapps/techpubs):

Do you think they would design a system that let you passively open the door from over a hundred feet away?
