Hitting gas and brake at the same time!?

Hey guys, what's up?

I don't know if my damn foot is too big but last night for the second time, I was holding the brake down and my rpms flew up...basically my foot hit the gas at the same time as the brake without realizing it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Does it cause damage to rev up the engine while one foot is on the brake?

Also last night without realizing it, I was tired...I put the car into park really fast, while my foot was on BOTH pedals. So I slammed it into park when my rpms were at like 2-3k, did I $%#$ up my tranny?

You should be more careful, but if it has no immedeate symptoms, chances are its fine. Back in the day people used to hit the brake and the gas together all the time, it was called fun

Hiting thegas and brake at the same time will not hurt your car at all. May wear out your tires and brakes a little prematurely.

But slamming it into park is not a good idea. You will not destroy your tranny doing it once, but still not very healthy. Just come to a stop before you put it in park next time.

I wasn't moving just my rpms were at like 2-3k when I put it into park. I had my foot on the brake as well, for some reason I keep doing this by mistake...I'm very use to my old car where the brake/gas are very far, so for some reason I keep doing this.

The 2 pedals are close because there is a driving/shifting technique known as "heel toe" and its required for manual transmission roadracing.

yes you need to heel and toe in an MT for down shift braking etc.. but even that would require the extra effort.. OP is saying he's doing un purposely lol
