Can they void out the warranty if you customize the car if it is leases or purchased? will the dealer still service the car?

What kind of customization? It also depends on the dealership. But typically if you bring it in because you have a problem and the problem is related to the mod, then they won't warranty it.

For service, I think it should be fine.

if you have a problem with exhaust in the future, then yea, they may try to blame it on the magna flow. But if you bring it in for a seat cushion to be replaced, then no, it's unrelated to the exhaust. That's what I mean by it depends.

Cosmetic mods are usually fine too, like the ones you mentioned.

aftermarket parts will not void the warranty unless it is proven that the part in question failed because of the aftermarket part

for example, if your seat stopped working, and you had an aftermarket exhaust, they cannot void the warranty because the parts are unrelated

what about just doing a service, eg: you bring your car to dealership to do an 30,000 miles check, they saw you moded exhaust and intake, will they put in the computer as car moded? next time u bring your car in when you have some problems, will they avoid the warranty even you put back stock parts on your car before u bring it back?

No!

By law they cannot void your warranty unless your mods caused a problem with the factory equipment. For example, if you put an intake on and you get a DTC for a MAF sensor, they can't blame the intake unless they actually prove the intake is the cause. However, with electrical ****, it's a little more complex. Like for example a remote starter. If you start having ignition problems or door lock problems, they are gonna try and void it because of that. But by law, they have to prove your parts caused the failure!

I also did some research and that is what I found. I had an alarm system put into my Honda and the doors did not lock. They fixed it when they found that the celenoid in the lock was messed up. Regardless of the mod, if the OEM equipment is messed up, they are obligated to fix.

You do realize that is not true? They have to be able to prove your exhaust system cause a failure to a certain thing. If they don't warranty your a/c cause you have a exhaust system then you can bring em to tha courthouse where judge Joe brown serves up a plate of justice

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

If you're in the US. Google that, and it will answer your questions.

Always found this topic interesting, so I'll play devil's advocate...

Although legally they can't they still can. For example, they can say that the air intake caused the problem in the MAF an refuse to fix it. You can quote anything you want and if you have the money force them to fix it.... by taking them to court. You'll may or may not win. If you do win, one has to wonder at what expense.... Remember they have techs, research and developement and a bunch of others that they can back their claim, and who would you call? The manufacturer? The mechanic down the street? Your buddy that installed this in a bunch of other cars?

FYI just thinking through senarios and rarely do I ever see the whole picture...

They brought this point up on a 370z forum, nissan outright said that they would not honor the engine warrenty should you add an aftermarket oil cooler...

and honestly it is not entirely the dealer's fault. it's the corporate side who will approve or deny your warranty. And if you the customer wants to fight against a big car corporate company, by all means go ahead.

if you lease the car it's stated you can mod it but it'll have to be back to OEM specs to the penny at the end. you are altering the bank's property, not yours.
