Would I be disappointed in G35 (vs. G37)?
Hello, all. I am enraptured with the V36 G sedan. However, I don't think I want to drop the cash on a new G37x. If I were to pick up, say an 07 G35x, would I be disappointed? I don't think I'll miss the 30hp or so, but I'm worried I might miss the 7 speed AT, or more importantly, the paddles. (I'd like to take the car out to LimeRock or something once in a while. I know, blasphemy with an AT...). Any major gripes with the 07 vs. 09?

With how good of a deal you can get on an 09, why not just spring for a new one? Spend $10K more, get more horses, but on top of that, a pretty much redesigned engine, better mpg, and slighter faster quarter mile time. I take it from your username and reference to Limerock you will be seeing time at the track/drag strip? IMO, I would springs for an 09.

The answer is no. I have an '08 and have no reservations about the '09 model.
22 less horsepower yeah, but at a much lesser cost. And if you get a Sport model in the '07 or '08 you still get the paddes, its just a 5AT unit instead of 7AT. I prefer the 5AT, 7 gears is just too much haha.
The seat heater dials are different and the rims on the '09 sports are awful.
The only thing I wish I had was scratch-shield paint, but I'm not exactly sure how well that works.... In theory its great

I've driven both since I get loaner G37X's all the time. The only difference I've been able to find comes from accelerating at HWY speeds. Flooring a G37 VS a G35 in DS modes the G37 picks up speed quicker. Also the G37 engine breathers better at higher altitudes. Not too mention the G37's engine note is so much better. The G37's engine produces a very satisfying growl.
Here's are my unscientific test results.

IMO If you enjoy passing people from speeds of 80mph + get the G37. Otherwise save your money.

totally agreed -- you WILL NOT miss the 30hp in the G35x .. LOL -- i think my wife's G35x is faster out of the hole anyways... on the highway there is a bit of a difference --
The only thing I advise is consider if you want used vs. new -- if it's certified and you're ok accepting the risk of a used vehicle.
The '07 (as probably mentioned above) has different tech options -- no real Ipod integration .. so determine if that's important to you..

I haven't heard any G35 owners say they get 30 mpg on the hwy either but that's what I get on the hwy with the G37. I think the G37 is a more refined car and who doesn't like new?

I have an 09, my friend ahs an 08. Its basically the same car. 30 horsepower or whatever is offset by the extra weight. The 7AT is awesome but the 5AT is also VERY responsive and leaves nothing to be desired. Add the paddles (like Mike said) and be happy!

Agreed -- most may argue with me, but I'd rather the G35 was RE-introduced with the same 306hp engine, a 7AT and 300lbs LIGHTER .. like a G35-lite --> much more impressive than 22 extra horsies and heavier... Making a car lighter is easily more of an engineering challenge than adding 20hp (while keeping the same rigidity and durability)
