2009 Infiniti G37 vs. 328i, A4, Acura TL SH-AWD
No surprise from C&D:
The Verdict: Drunk as we are on the BMW Kool-Aid, we once again behold the definitive sports sedan (328i).

good old car and driver...the mag that held a performance test with a E92 M3, Nissan GTR, and 911 turbo and had the M3 winning because of creature comforts....so it was a sports car creature comforts test??? lol...other than the BMW love they do have a solid magazine...but they do seem to love that bimmer kool-aid.

Yeah -- that article has been discussed over at G35driver ---
They put the 3-series up by two points on the G ... apparently the '3 has manual seats and pleather... nice.
Best part about Car & Driver is that you're not legally required to read it.

Considering how much and how long C and D has sipped the BMW Kool Aid, I think the G getting that close to their idolized BMW, shows what a great car Infiniti has created.
I have owned 5 different BMWs and 2 MINIs ( incl my current MCS JCW) and I am very very happy with the Infiniti.
We looked at the 328/335 while narrowing down a replacement for our 2002 A-6 2.7 T.
The Infiniti gave us the best mix of features, performance, styling and pricing.
PS....I also am hoping ( w/ confidence) the Infiniti will NOT come equipped with the BMW post warranty whopping repair bills.
Bimmers are great cars BUT so are Infinitis.

Usually C&D picks the 3 series over the G beacuse of the smoothness of the Drivetrain. I always thought that they were exagerating the issue until i drove a 3 series. That I6 engine is smooothhh....
BTW I love my G, I wouldn't change it for a 3 series. (unless is an E90 M3)

The IS would be a more appropriate competitor.
IMO, the 3 series does have a better chassis. Also, an I6 IS smoother and creates a better powerband than a V6 (RB/2J anyone?). The disadvantage of a I6 is... well... its big. Everyone went to a V6 because it is more compact.

I know that a lot of people here like the G for obvious reason. I bought the G37xS after comparing it with the 328, A4 2.0T, C300 and IS250. IMHO, if you don't factor in the price, I will pick the 328. The big difference in price value tip the scale to the G for me. But driving wise, the Bimmer is really something. I used to bash the Bimmer until I've driven it and apparently, owning one or two. Maybe C&D think that the price/options differences is not that big that will tip the scale to the G. I haven't read it but as somebody pointed out, the 2 points spread is a good indications that the G is fast catching up. A little bit of tweaking on the trans and suspension will do the trick.

Comparing A G with this piece of garbage 328 is total non sense..... Instead of upgrading the comparison standards of the G, they lower it. Retarded C and D.... We know its below $40K, however it shudnt be compared with crappy German Ripped off inadequate cars -_-.... Am just pissed lol, nvm me :P

Another disadvantage of a I6 is that it's difficult to get good gas mileage. It's very challanging to manage a consistent intake across the long straight head (as compared to 2 short heads on a V6). I haven't checked the 335-bimmer but I bet the mileage isn't as near as good as the G37.
