Faster steering makes it heavier.

Most luxury buyers are looking for light steering (ala Lexus/mercedes)

BMW's are often knocked for their relatively heavy steering.

I don't think a fast steering necessarily translates to a heavy steering; it usually means a more responsive/accurate steering.

Responsive, yes, but accuracy depends on how stiff the steering rack is and how much play is in the system. With age, the accuracy will decrease

dont all these new cars have speed sensetive variable assist steering so its nice and light in the parking lot but stiffens up at highway speed?

I would want faster tighter steering if it was up to me.

The firmer suspension and the stiffer Z rated and unrotatable tires they can keep... LOL

We have a 2k8 G35x (wifey's) and my 2k9 G37xS ... and i know my G37 isn't broken in by any means (about 200 miles on the ODO) and hers has about 2000 miles... but the G35 just feels so much lighter on its feet out of the hole ..

I can just tap on that G35s pedal and it just launches you from a stop ... i'm hoping my G37 will provide me with that same launch characteristic when it's properly broken in .. hell, that's a major reason why I bought it! (the test drive vehicle with 5k miles did accelerate pretty hard, so i'm hoping it's just a break in issue)

I'm sure that is all it is Peter. Once that 37 is broken in it should be quicker than the 08.
Keep us updated, and what a nice pair of his and hers vehicles. Sweet

Well 2 months ago when my car was in the dealer for maintenance I got an 09 G37X loaner. Car had about 4500 miles. I'm a sales rep and drove that car that day close to 60 miles. From the seat of my pants the only performance different I noticed was in DS mode. In DS mode when you floored the G37 it took off instantly compared to my car. Up to that point I have been baying the hell out of my car.

After I got my car back that evening I started driving my car more aggressively. I'm happy to report that the ECU is constantly adjusting to your driving style. About 1 week later I started to notice that when I floored my car now is DS mode it now takes off instantly. The delay is gone.

Also something to keep in mind when comparing G35Xs / G37Xs , VS any GX model. The regular X's come with smaller wheels and according to Infiniti's website the GX's are lighter than the GXs's.

One thing I really like about the G37X is the sound of the engine compared to my G35X's, nice growl. But the seat heater ***** IMO look really cheap and need to be redesign quickly. Unless these were meant for a Corolla.

Coming from an 04 Maxima I can say the 09g35x is plenty fast but it lacks the low end torque that I had become used to. The low RPM torque is what gets the car off the line the easiest. That being said I always accelarate harder now to get going the same way the Maxima did but the G gets there faster.

I tempted fate a little today and punched it a couple times and.. yeahp... this G37 pinned me to my seat -- not Chevy Z06 style -- but the same as my wife's G35x... i feel better now ...

I didn't read anything in the specifications of the G37 that it has a driver-adaptive transmission

It felt good didn't it! My favorite aspect of the g's performance is with passing cars at 60 mph. the 60-90 acceleration is great!.

I can only speak for myself and I did not feel any difference in passing power at all when I had the G37X loaner car. The only difference I felt was in DS mode when flooring the gas. The G37 had no delay and quickly downshifted and took off. My car had about 1.5 second delay before it took off. But I was babying the car up to that point. After getting my car back I decided to start driving it more aggressively and the ECU readjusted and the delay went away about 1 week later.

In about a month my car is due for service again. Will compare both again provided I get another G37X loaner. Need to get a stop watch to compared top gear acceleration. If the G37 has an edge it will probably only show up at speeds 100MPH +.

Peter unless your wife drives aggressively the ECU will adjust to a more relax driving style and can affect over-all feeling of the passing power. Also the G37 engine has a sportier raspier tone and I believe a car enthusiast is more likely to want to drive the G37 harder just to hear it's sweet tune.

I just feel like I am in the torque band sooner in the G37 .. i mean, c'mon guys... it makes sense, it's got 2 extra gears... and more hp .. of course the 37 is gunna feel quicker on the highway than the 35..

I'm not knockin' the 35, hell, I make payments on a 35 and a 37, why would i knock it...
