Hey everyone who has been suffering from this "High Frequency Whining Issue," I just took my car to the Tusin Infiniti dealership in California to fix the "tabbing engine" issue, and I also let them take a look at the whining issue "again." I somehow get a conclusion on this based on the following several reasons:

First of all, Thanks to the owner above who dissembled his passenger-side door and disconnect the power of the speaker from which we seem to always think that's what the problem is, but instead it's actually where the problem is, not "what" the problem is. ( I will explain it later) So now I think everyone would agree with me that the problem should not be related to the bose speaker since some of the owners without the bose system also do hear the noise.

Secondly, after I had two technicians take a look at the problem yesterday even though only the second technician could only hear it when he paid very very very close attention to it, he eventually pointed out it should be related to the fuel pump or the fuel line along which the fuel is pumped from the oil tank in the right back corner and passes by the "area around the passenger side, especially the area where we (the owners of the G37) have pointed out for several times, which is where the passenger side bose speaker is.

But when I asked him how I may solve the problem, he mentioned changing the fuel pump might solve the problem, but it might also be very likey that the problem will still be there unsolved. HE EMPHASIZED that, the causes of the issue may be the current design of the fuel line that passes by the passenger side, which I didn't understand since it's too technical. The only thing I remember is that he mentioned the single direction with which the fuel pump device pumps the oil that might be the cause of the problem.

So I hope any one who is very familiar with the technical thing about cars may start to take a look at the issue in this direction.

Last but not least, I am an owner of a 2008 G37 with Journey and Premium package + Navi, which was purchased in Tustin Infiniti. I also did call the Infiniti Consumer Affair to complain this problem, but they said they had never documented the problem even though I have been reading this issue so much long time ago and made call after seeing someone else made the call.

Therefore, everyone who has been suffering this issue and looking for a solution please call the Infiniti Consumer Affair to complain this problem. The documentation number (or the file number) I had related to the issue complained is "6493654." So by increasing the number of reporting of this issue, I hope it may raise Infiniti's attention on this issue.

Moreover, I think <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->SilverTL05 was the one who was responsible for taking this Poll for Infiniti, but how come Infiniti said the problem was not even documented when I called them?? So is it true that <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->SilverTL05 has reflected the result from this poll and Infiniti does not want to take care of it? Or it is some other reason? I don't know, but I just hope anyone who has inccured this issue may have it solved asap because I really love this car and enjoy it except for the noise.

Good luck to everyone, and I am looking forward to the great news from you guys!

That is very strange that Infiniti said they had no documented cases of this. Maybe they are trying to sweep our problem under the carpet because the issue is too complicated to fix?? I definately called in about this problem and told them about this thread (they didnt care for the link to this thread either)

The noise is definately something electronic though. Sounds exactly like when a exposed speaker wire is touching some grounded part of the car or if a cell phone was too close to computer speakers. Doesnt seem like Infiniti is going to address this issue anytime soon

Just passed 300 miles and now I have the noise too. Sounds seems to come from front passenger side and when the RPM is over 700-800.

If infiniti says they have no complaint cases on file, they are freakin on crack, and does not want to recall all the cars during this economy condition.

We are not the only one with this problem. even EX has the same problem.

someone maybe close on EX forum: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=385835&page=3

This is clearly an issue that is plaguing many cars in the infiniti/nissan line-up so I dont know why they are not trying to fix this issue. Even if we sent Infiniti links to all the forums stating they are having this issue, I doubt they would do anything.

Did SilverTL05 ever follow up with his service advisor concerning this thread? I would show my dealer this but they claim that there is no noise in my car.

Anybody know where the ECU is? Not sure that's the right term, but its conceivable that improperly shielded/filtered electronic equipment can create RF noise that is picked up in the wiring and heard on the speakers. Admit it doesn't seem like it would happen with the radio turned off, but if the ECU is in close proximity to wires going to the speakers, its at least worth investigating. Reason I mention it is that while the different models probably have different ECU's, they may be from the same design family and electronics manufacturer - who might not have tested/qualified it to FCC standards.

Another thought. Does anybody have a stethoscope, or something similar that could be used to locate the source? Maybe someone has already tried this, just haven't seen it here.

I'm contemplating the purchase of a new G37 sedan and this issue is making me question that - both for the car problem and the company's integrity.

I took my car to the Glendale, and they said they (4 Techs) don't hear it.

I have a 09 G37 sedan (prem + nav) with 1500 miles and hear it. But I usually turn on the music or roll windows down so it's not a big issue for me. But yes, it's annoying.

lol - we have sorta the same problem on some, not all, G8 GT's over on G8board.com. It's well documented, and it turns out that noise is introduced into our speaker system by all of the fancy new components pressed into service in modern vehicles - specifically with us:

1. Our battery is in the trunk to help give a 50/50 weight distribution to the car. This calls for long runs of power leads up to the alternator and then to the various amplifier, bluetooth boxes, onstar units, xm radio units, etc.

2 Wires are all over the place, and eventually sound gets introduced to the system from a number of places.

3 It sounds like you guys have something similar, perhaps an alternator, perhaps a single electronic component that acts as an inadvertent amplifier for other electrical signals that may cross its path etc.

4 Our fix was decidedly electrical and is called "the big three" Just Google "the big three" and "car audio" and you should see, what for us was the fix.

Thanks for posting that info ozzy. I have taken out the fuses for the amps in the car which should have cut off all power to the speakers and thus eliminating them as a culprit of the high pitch noise. Unless the sound can run through the speakers regardless of them having power?

It seems that 99% of the dealers cant hear this sound which leaves me hopeless.

Interesting observation by Ozzy. Doesn't the battery sit in that corner of the engine compartment?

Even if the amp's are powered down, the speaker can pickup electrical impulse noise that is coupled (inductively) into the speaker wires.
if you can get near the speaker, disconnect the wires leading to it.

that is exactly what I did. I took the door panel off and disconnected all the speakers and the noise was still there. I can even hear it in reverse going out my driveway

I read on an EX35 forum that it was the ECU. The ECU is located behind the firewall/dash (under the engine cover?) in the area from where the noise seems to emanate. The member that noticed noted this received a replacement ECu which fixed his noise problem. But he also noted that you run the risk of getting an ECU which is the same or worse. I have it, mine is a brand new journey, no bose not even title yet. I think I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to request a swap or even a trade up to to a model that doesn't exhibit the noise.
