This may swing me back to the G if there is indeed a legitimate fix.

The newer cars do not seem to have the problem. The numbers are almost 50/50 now. The gap has been steadily closing.

I went to the dealership the other day to try to get some more answers. Nada... but I did drive a 2010 G37 to see if the new models made the noise as well. I didn't really hear anything obvious when I drove it around the block, but there was definitely a constant, faint background electronic noise. It wasn't nearly as annoying as the sound I hear from my 09 though.

They also let me drive one of the 09's they had left in stock. This car had <10 miles on it. There was a *slight* electronic noise, but nowhere near as loud as my car. I definitely saw potential for this noise to grow louder over time. I think most of us didn't notice the noise until a couple thousand miles anyways. But I'm not convinced 2010's wont have this problem as well. The sound seems to intensify over time.

I also had them look up the counter measure part # posted previously by CuthGood. It is a confirmed ECM part, but my dealership was unwilling to pursue it anymore saying it wasn't' going to work. I also mentioned the info from the Nissan Z guys about only certain serial numbers of ECMs being affected, but the service mgr said that it would be totally different in the Z and the G37. So pretty much I was blown off (again).

I guess we will see once CuthGood gets his car serviced if that part indeed works. I'm crossing my fingers...

It's good to know that the countermeasure has been acknowledged by another dealer.

God am I glad I found this--I thought I was going nuts. I have a g37x 09 coupe, 5,500 miles, just started hearing this high pitch this week. I read all the way through this thread and I am pissed.

well, i have a '09 G37xS with 4,800 miles and just started getting the same god damn noise.

By the looks of this thread the prognosis is not good, So here is the question...
if there is no fix and you've had your car at the dealer for X number of times can one Lemon Law this car?

3/7 days a week i drive from New York Philly (2 hour trip x2=4 hours) and it WILL be unbearable.

Sorry Suzi-Q and BlueFlash....welcome to the club. I never could figure out what this thread was all about until I got just over 8K miles on my G. I was on a road trip and thought it was rough pavement on the interstate that was making something vibrate. That was 4 months ago. It stopped for a while, but I have the noise probably 2/3ds of the time I drive the car now. It kills my ears.

If this really is hurting people's ears why wouldn't anyone try to initiate a buyback with Infiniti.
I assume that is probably because no one really pushed the envelope with the dealer.

I intend to!

I have a 2010 Journey S+premium+nav, only 30 miles - no noise here. I test drove an 09 journey+prem+nav and no noise there either. If anything changes I'll post it up. If its any consolation the noise is better to deal w/ than an hpfp fail on a 335i any day.

2009 Infiniti high pitch frequency noise

I purchased my Infiniti G37XS back in April 09.
I noticed the high pitch sound on my home with the new car. Didn't think much of it and almost thought it was in my head. I asked my wife if she could hear it and she said yes.
I have been battling with Infiniti since to get the issue resolved. some people hear it, other don't.
I have taken my car to Beaverton Infiniti and now they refuse to even take a look at it.

Very long story short. The problem is coming from the cars ECU.
I have spent numerous hours fighting with Infiniti on this and finally my day to be heard in court on the 16th of February 2010.

I am looking for someone who has or knows were I can use a frequency meter to show the judge this is a real problem with the car. I get head aches if I drive for any length of time without the radio on.

Any help would be appreciated.

may i ask the details about you taking them to court, like small claims court? what you are trying to win? maybe we should all try a class actions lawsuit

either way I hope you win cause then maybe Infiniti will REALLY make a fix instead of giving the run around.

Go back to earlier pages of this post...a couple of members have actually recorded and graphed out where the noise is using iphones and associated apps. There's definitely a spike at around 10khz.
