If you live where you get "real" snow and ice---get the AWD.
End of story.

ya i think if you get really bad winters, awd is a must. i drove my rwd g35 with summer tires in a light st louis winter and it was fine, but a bit tricky. still had a few sliding/drifting moments even with good driving so ya.

I don't disagree that AWD is better. My take in it is that even in areas that get a lot of snow, there is practically only 5 to 10 days a season where there is any practical accumulation on the ground. If you are concerned about snow traction, although AWD is better, why would you sacrifice the sport package if the AWD is better for such a small period of time you will be driving the car? My experience is that if there is less than 4" of snow on the ground, the RWD with good winters is fine. For days where there is MORE than that, leave the car at home. It is a small sacrifice (just a few days a year) for the ability to avoid the extra weight and pick up the sport option IMO.

Having said that, if you don't care about the sports package, then it doesn't really matter I guess.

You live in the bananna belt as far as I'm concerned.-
It looks like you get less than 12" of snow a yr on the average.

We get between 250"-300" up here every winter.
Outside of the highway, there's not much pavement on most side roads and streets even visible for a good 3-4 months a winter. Nothing but ice and snow to drive on.

Schools up here don't even close for a 12" snowfall, usually.
Depends on the wind and visibility, as far as bussing.

My Dunlop Wintersport M3s serve me alright and I probably see more snow/crappy road conditions (Winterpeg) than most people on this board.

knowing HOW to drive is probably the most important but the right tires is a close 2nd.

Well, the sport package and those larger brakes, will just be too much to lose in order to go with the AWD (besides the extra weight). Also, based on y'all's experiences, it does seem to me that RWD with winter-tires and careful driving should be sufficient for the G37 sedan?

Listen even if u are a good driver with blizzak tires and awd or rwd, other drivers will hit u. Just think about it. I Would personally go with Rwd, but not get the summer performance package, and put sand bags in the trunk. All seasons are good enough.

Lol, then i must be on drugs if i have 2008 Acura TL with all-season tires, that handle very well in the snow. Even though i have fwd, that's y u have sand bags lol.
