Beating it from a roll or from a dig?
I mean it's possible for anything to beat anything...a civic can beat a ferrari if the ferrari driver didn't really put more pressure on the gas pedal.
But the idea is that the SL500 traps consistently faster mph and finishes a 1/4 time faster than the G37, which is why it might be hard to believe.

this is the SL500 performance summary:
Performance
Max speed 155 miles/h (250 km/h)
0-100 km/h 5.4 seconds
0-160 km/h 12.8 seconds
0-200 km/h 20.0 seconds
0-300 km/h -
Quarter mile 13.7 seconds
0-100-0 mph -
taken from http://www.fastestlaps.com/car45caff4f7472b.html
now thats exactly the same as owr g37s performance, there is a vedio on youtube that shows the g37 reaches 200 km/h in exactly 20s.
it was a drivers race and i won.

In any case this is all the definition of bench racing.

It's not 200lbs heavier, it's 50lbs heavier. IMO it depends on the driver, especially if both are 6MT's I ran a G37s sedan 7AT at the track this past weekend and he ran a 13.879 and I ran a 13.746 in the 1/4 mile. Mind you I've figured out how to launch my car. If it was my first time at the track when I was running 14.0's and 13.9's I would have lost. I still think I can get a little more out of her.

I usually launch around 3k to 3.5k rpm's I have launched from 4-4.5k rpms and it seems to launch better but you have to burn your clutch so you dont get so much tire spin. That's why I prefer a little lower rpm, might not take off as fast, but my clutch will last longer
