That's the indicator i've been using not the on on the NAV screen. Which button resets the RED readout inbetween the gauges. I just know how to reset the miles traveled, not the average.

I'm assuming you're asking a question? You reset it by holding down the bottom button (the circle symbol) when you're on that display (2-24 and 2-25 of your manual).

With 2780 total miles now I have been getting an average of 19.8 mpg on both displays resetting every time I fill up. Last week when this thread started I decided to run the current tank as conservative as possible. After filling up I was able to take side streets home, timed all the lights perfectly and got as high as 33 mph. By the time I got home, 12.5 miles the average went down to 30.5. Now that I have 135 miles on the tank it has gone down to 22.5 with a 50/50 city highway mix. I am pleased that I was able to get almost 3 more mpg, but it has been kind of boring.

you can get 22.5 pretty easy. i had 350 miles on the dial with 60 left to go before i refueled. tank took 15.48 gallons to fill. this is about 50/50 city highway sometimes with a/c and sometimes gunning it on the freeway.

pretty sure i could hit 24 if i really tried.

Right now my car says 20.6 and that's been 3/4 highway. I did gun it a couple times, but other than that, been pretty conservative. Filling up at 4.11 a gallon this week doesn't make me too happy either

See below for the latest summary from mymilemarker.com. I'm averaging 17.5 with mostly city driving and an occasional highway jaunt out to the suburbs. I highly recommend the site to anyone who's interested. Enlarge the image to see the details.

100 mile commute every day...Stop and go traffic in the morning...And spirited freeway pulls on a more lively commute home in the afternoon...Through my first 3 logs I'm averaging about 20.0 MPG on the dot...I have a 6MT and obviously use premium fuel only...

Okay, just got the car last week - 08 G37S Sport 6MT. Tank #1 was about 15.6mpg - this is mostly stop and go, some hills, and about 5mi on the highway. Tank #2 is currently at about 17.6mpg and going up fast (up from 16.4mpg 1/4 tank ago), as I've been babying it the last 1/4 tank. Have 490 mi on the car in 6 days...all around town trying to break her in

I can tell, if you actually follow the manual and drive like a granny (shifting at 8mph, 16mph, 25mph, 28mph, 33mph), you can probably do well for mpg, especially if you accelerate gently into highway driving. Now, if only most of us had such self-control

thats all true, but not boring myself to tears is worth an extra 60 or 70 bucks a month.
