To wait, or NOT to wait: 2007 G35 Coupe
Im pretty sure all you non-noobs know that the 2007 g35 coupe will be a new model unlike the previous 3 years of the G35 (obviously all, or atleast most companies make new models every 3 years). Now my question is, should i wait for the 2007 model or just take the 2006 model? Im getting my car on september, right before the 2007 arrive.
Ive seen all the Concept photos but as we all know concept photos usually exsagerate a little bit too much. But atleast heres the good news, the manufatured version (meaning the real thing) will debut in April in some sort of convention at New York.
Id like to hear some comments and suggestions!
Thanx

I'm not sure if the new coupe is going to be an '07...from what i've heard it'll be an '08 with an early arrival, late '07...
I'm glad I got my 'o5 when I did...now is the most difficult time to choose to buy or wait...

I am in the same boat as you. I've read quotes from the Detroit News during the Autoshow in January and it did state the NY Autoshow would debut the sedan and coupe. However, only the sedan has been confirmed to debut in April.
Another article I read stated that the concept was presented in January just so that Nissan could have publicity twice when they debuted the production coupe (Autoweek had this prediction on their website). Maybe they were right ...
We'll find out next month. I have saved up for the 2nd gen G coupe. I hope it doesn't disappoint, otherwise I'll wait for the IS coupe in 2k7.

more expensive!!
I know that the new g35 (07 but prolly 08) will be more expensive for 2 reasons, one is price inflation (duh) and another is they used more features on the car and more style and expenses. Did you know that the headlights will be LED? that is amazing, they told us in the meeting yesturday. I think that the GTR comming out will be just as much hype as the g35 coupe because the coupe is badass and will be less expensive and you can buy one and put the money into it to make it faster than the GTR anyway. But who knows really? haha

ok heres a noob question, so bear with me. Whats the difference between LED lights and the projector head lights the 2006 g35 coupe has?
What advantages does LED headlights have over the current Head lights of the 2006 G35 Coupe? (and how does it look like compared to projector lights of 2006)
And last, whats the difference between the 2006 Head lights and the 2003-2005 headlights the g35 coupe has?
Id appreciate if all these questions are answered...thanx!

I don't have all the answers but here goes:
1) Main advantages of LEDs: brighter than xenon projectors and use much less power. Thing is, LEDs are very focused -- they don't work well (generally) as front lights because they focus light in a narrow beam of light. You'd want a broader field of view at night so that's why that technology is used in interiors (eg the aisles in movie theaters use LED). Also LEDs don't get hot like xenons or halogens. Lifespan for LEDs are much longer, too.
2) LEDs also take up way less space -- nice for engineers since they don't have to account for housings projectors (or even halogen) uses.
So far, I've only seen the JDM Lexus IS use LEDs in the front (as fogs, not main headlights). Don't know how headlights would work out. If the engineers can 'shave' the LED bulbs to disperse the light properly, it might be good since LEDs are bright and focused light, oncoming traffic won't complain as much since it can be designed to aim more towards the right (or left, depending if you're RHD or LHD car). -- This statement is contradictory to what I said above, I realize ... but it's all about balancing.
I'm sure LED technology will be implemented more in the future. Gives designers much more to play around with and doesn't use as much power (so that can go towards the main computer / sound system, etc)
Anyone -- correct anything I've said that is incorrect.

So when exactly is the date for the April car show that Nissan/Infiniti will unveil the redesigned 4-door? (And there's also SPECULATION that they'll also unveil the coupe) I want to read more about it, but I'm sure Nissan will be tight-lipped about it until this April show. So I'm just curious as to when exactly it is in April. Thanks.
