Wow! Talk about have a pesimistic outlook, and negative statements.
I'm guessing your not planning on buying the new coupe? You must have financial problems?
I've got very bad new for ya. . . . According to you, Infiniti is in fact going to make a huge mistake, because 90% percent of what we see in the concept will become the next generation coupe. It's very unlikly much will change from the concept.
Although my current car will become 'dated', I guarrentee you it's resale value will remain the highest in the world.
If you don't like what Infiniti is doing maybe it's time for you to go back to your Honda.

I wish we knew a little more about this car. Mostly price and release - I'm thinking about picking up a new '06 in a couple weeks, but if this thing is @ the same pricepoint and coming out this fall, i'm going to kick myself

Just a hunch, but given that the automotive press has had inteviews with the guy in charge of the GTR, and he's calling it a 2008 GTR, thinking it will arrive no sooner than fall 07. So what till then, let everyone else steal attention for another year and a half? Infiniti has actually been sitting relatively still since the release of the M, a year ago, with nothing else on the books other than the coupe concept. GTR underpins next gen FM platform, which will also be found in next gen FM cars, such as the CC. Time from showcar release to original G Coupe- 5 months. Prediction- Coupe Concept will, with street mods, be available as the 07 Coupe, released this coming fall. Prediction:7500 rpm redline seen on concept- if it comes to pass, hp goes up by 30. Current efficiency in similar technology engines- specific output of 100 hp/litre occurs at around 7800 rpm. VQ with 300 at 7K is on target for those numbers. NY show press, assumed correct would support fall arrival. Now that the brand has been "pheonixed" by Ghosn, correct strategy is to lead with the coupe, follow with the sedan, as has been the case for the last two model years.

My $0.02 ... but like I said, I hope you are correct on all aspects (which would help my timing out for a new car considerably!)

Absolutely right on the previous intros- but the company situation was different then too. Back then, Infiniti was in desperate need of a volume car; in need of anything more exciting than vanilla, and fortunately, they got it entirely right. My thinking is that since the sedan is bread and butter, they're going to want to know public response to the changes before attempting to put a whole whackabunch on the street. BMW has traditionally done this by cueing from small to big volume, but they do it by going 7-5-3, becoming less polarising along the way. Since work on the Q has seemingly disappeared (with no concept intros this year which surprised me, since Lexus has the LS, and the M and GS compete directly), and the M is a step between old and new, I figure the low volume test can be done on the coupe. Then with the direction fine-tuned, the sedan will be able to leap-frog the 3 series and the IS350 with ease. BMW has been toying with their M3 release for the same reason- see what everyone else is doing first and one-up them. Same with the Sentra from Nissan, though OMG did they get that wrong. Wait this long for that? Two model years removed from the original plan for...? The Civic and Mazda 3 (now in its mid-lifecycle year) are so much better looking than the new Sentra will be. Right out of the gate, it has loser written all over it. But I digress

more importantly though, why are you so angry? there was a question posted on a forum and ppl are discussing the issue of the future "concept" coupe. it wasn't a personal attack on you or nissan corp....geez. and no, i was coming for a nissan 300zx! i don't even know why you even mention my financial situation as a possible motive for my statements. rest assured, i probably make 5X more than you. but, who's counting.....oh, maybe you are!
