Those side "mirrors" are actually cameras, which is why they are so small. Still unlikely to make it to production, but maybe an option at best.

I highly doubt that the sedan will be on a different platform from that of the "Coupe" or the Z. But it is not outside the realm of possibility.
It is interesting that they only refer to it as the "Infiniti Coupe Concept" and not even the "Infiniti G Coupe Concept" (which would not give away displacement). It's possible that Infiniti may market the coupe as being seperate from the G and M (maybe sitting between the two) and give it a slighter higher price tag, but maybe also v8 options

there is no way there will be a V8 for the G....

no one is going to buy the V6 turbo GTR if there is a V8 G35 with the same power output

This is far better looking than the next GTR! If it only had a V8.

I don't think they would have the same power output. The 4.5L V8 isn't going to put out 450+hp like the TT V6 is rumored to do. That said, you're probably right - I doubt they want to compete with themselves that way if only from a confusion standpoint. Hard to sell a "tiny" tt v6 when they'res a "massive" v8 in the lineup.

Some further comments:

1. I like the headlights. They're quite a bit more aggressive than the current ones on the Coupe and the Sedan.

2. The front crease should stay. I think it creates an interesting line when you view the car from the front, or the front quarter-angle. Notice on this shot (http://www.nissannews.com/multimedia...pe_concept.jpg) how you get a really stark contrast thanks to it.

3. How do the door handles work? From the side (http://www.nissannews.com/multimedia...pe_concept.jpg) they're not even visible.

4. The rear exhaust is integrated into the body work. Is this pure aesthetics, or is the car so "hunkered down" that there's a possibility of scraping on tough driveways, etc.?

Some interesting items to point out on the interior:

http://www.nissannews.com/multimedia...pe_concept.jpg
  • Anyone notice the paddle shifter?
  • Any wagers on the precise purpose of the mesh grill that's the apparent top of the driver's gauge cluster?
  • What I *thought* are air vents toward the outer edges of the dash appear to be simple mesh holes. Speakers, perhaps? I doubt it since if you look closely, the interior air vents are a similar mesh. For that matter, they're very, very long and narrow.
  • Either intentionally or not, the display on the gauge cluster implies a laser / radar range finder is included for intelligent cruise control. They also seem to imply 30 miles per gallon fuel economy.
  • The clock looks cheap.
  • The hidden door handles concept extends to the interior as well. Can you spot it?
  • Among the sources on the display, is a DVD button. In most cars, this feature is reserved for the rear occupants so a driver won't be distracted (or able to say he was distracted when he or she causes a wreck). I wonder if the DVD player will play while the car's moving? It'd be pretty worthless otherwise...

And yes, I read way too much into this. That's the fun of concepts. Picking them apart lets you into the designer's vision for what the future holds.

I'm not sure I like it but it's far from ugly. I was hoping for something for different looking. It looks very similar to the current coupe with a few more creases and jagged lines. It looks exactly like what Lexus/Acura is doing which isn't really a bad thing but not my thing. I guess I am just not with this BMW inspired modern design. I do like the interior but the center console looks huge. Overall, it's nothing that would keep me away from the Infiniti dealer.

I think Infiniti will do it again this time around...it will blow BMW 3 series and Lexus IS out of the water. I believe if this is it (or close)...they'll have a winner.

So Infiniti will be running the one two punch in 2007. The $35k elegant fururistic G Coupe, and the $55k brute vacuum GT-R. I wonder if the Nissan designers at any point just looked at the G Coupe Concept and figure they should just use that body for the next GT-R with some minor changes..... The GT-R Concept design is not anywhere as appealing as the Coupe Concept.

Yeah - I thought the Sedan was in there too - supposedly at LA but nowhere to be found now...
