Is there an upgrade for fog lights?

I have a 2015 Q60S convertible. This is just a G37 with a new name plate, before the 2016 redesign, so I'm posting here.

My fog lights are hardly noticeable when turned on at night, regardless of whether the weather is actually foggy, rainy, or clear.

They seem to be incandescent technology rather than LED. I am wondering if there is a retrofit for a DIY replacement and give better performance.

Check out www.theretrofitsource.com for LED upgrades.

Thanks for that. They have a Morimoto kit that looks like a replacement for the whole unit that is specific to my model and year, and they also have just replacement bulbs. The bulbs seem generic, not specific to any make or model. How can I tell if they will work with mine? Are fog light bulbs mostly universal?

Your front fog lamp bulbs are standard 55W, H1-type bulbs. Any suitable replacement, incandescent or LED, will work. If you want "true" functional fog lamps (as opposed to "show" lamps) then stay close to 3000K bulbs. Now if your lenses are scratched/ oxidized, or if the housings are damaged, then you can look into replacing the whole ball of wax.

Just get quality bulbs from reputable sellers and you will be fine. While you can surely buy from Amazon or eBay, try to avoid getting the cheapest, most generic Chinese bulb available as these have a proven history of failures and causing issues.

Me, personally, I have always used either diodedynamics or retrofitsource for bulbs. Top notch customer service and easy to work with when/ if issues arise. Just my 10¢.

I've had the Morimoto Fog lights (full assembly) on my sedan for 9 years now. Still working, still look great.

Thanks for that! I am looking at two Morimoto products and the pricing doesn't make sense to me. One is the complete housing with lights, one is just a pair of bulbs. Just a pair of bulbs is about $174, and pair of complete housings is only $114.

I have a 2103 Xs coupe with the Sport bumper. I just replaced the bulbs themselves with the TRS units.

I tried the DiodeDynamics units, but they kept burning out. DD always offered to replace them under warranty but on the coupe, the passenger side bulb can be a pain to replace (windshield washer reservoir restricts space). So I went with the TRS units and have had no issues.

At some point I had my bumper repainted and the shop did not reinstall the lightbulbs correctly letting water accumulate and rusted the chrome inside of the bulb housing, so I may replace them with the units you linked. I dont think you need them in your case and you should probably just replace the bulbs (or whichever option is cheaper).

diode dynamics FTW

Dude, cannot say enough good things about diode dynamics! changed my "city lights" to bright white, use the tail to turn, all the interior lights and love their 6000k fogs. match the stock headlights perfectly.
