Newbie - thinking about modding my 2012 G37x

I am thinking about modding my 2012 G37x Coupe. I saw this thread and it has a lot of good info. As for my experience, I have worked on cars and rebuilt engines before, but that is primarily on pre 1980s cars (so much simpler).

Here is my question. If I want to get my G37 over 450 HP, what is the cheapest way to do it. What do you guys suggest? Thanks for any help!

There really is no cheap way to get to 450HP.

To get in that ballpark you will need to go FI and then theres still that 7AT in the way....

And the X platform isn't gonna be your wallet's best friend when it comes to getting into higher HP numbers.

The VQ37HR has about 330 hp at the crank, which is pretty awesome, IMO. With I/E bolt-ons and a tune on a fresh engine, you might find an extra 10% on a good day. Figure $3000 in mods for 30 hp, that's about right.

Forced induction is the only way to hit 400+, and that's a project that would probably cost more than your car is worth.

That's an old thread, and people consistently get more out of these cars nowadays with simple bolt ons and an ecutec tune.
Z1 has canned tunes available that match their components, if you want a no brainer and reliability.
Or and a good tuner. Lots of threads on that subject.
Cold air intake and cat back exhaust minimum.
Ditch the stock cats if you can.
high flow cats if you can't.
Ported upper and lower intake are nice.
Flex fuel great, but expensive.
because you need to replace the entire fuel system to get any real benefit from it.
but honestly the stock system needs a little help when trying to make power.
A valve body upgrade would make a big difference in driveability. And transmission longevity.
Trans swap will be tough if you wanna keep the AWD, and I would wanna keep it!
Beyond that,
tires
brakes
suspension
and
weight reduction.
