G37 transmission problems
Hello everyone,
This is my first post on here. I own a 2009 g37 with 105k miles, base model (Automatic). Sometimes when I am driving between up shifts the rpm shoots up 300-1000 rpm then goes into gear. The times when the rpm’s flare up a lot the car shakes a small amount. Passengers do not notice. There is no check engine light. It happens on some drives but it is not consistent. I am worried that this will develop into something worse. Is this a common problem? if it continues will I need to replace my transmission?

Welcome. Can you provide any background regarding maintenance on the transmission? For example, has the fluid been exchanged at regular intervals? I've seen online where other Infinitis with the RE7R01A automatic transmission exhibit similar issues either related to poor fluid qualit or a clogged filter. Both are stated to last the "life of the vehicle", but most of us here disagree on that approach and exchange fluid every 30-40K miles.

@socketz67 Honestly I got this car a few months ago, I asked the owner when he did and he said he followed the maintenance cycle per Infiniti. He said the last major routine maintenance was 2017-2018.

That may be a good thing. If you call your local/regional Infiniti/Nissan dealer (or determine the one they likely used) the dealer should be able to provide a service history for the car. A transmission drain and fill is right around $200 here in CA, but we are normally charged more than in other parts of the US.

@socketz67 I will try to do that. The car is from Florida and I live in NS, Canada, so it may be challenging. I appreciate your help.
