Leak on passenger side

I have an ‘09 G37x coupe with 161k miles. After I park it in my driveway there seems to be a leak under the passenger side. Should I be worried?

Worry is probably too strong a term but you should definitely be concerned.

These cars are notorious for leaks either from the sunroof drain, the windshield cowl, or the firewall wiring harness passthru. Being you have a Coupe, it could also be the door seals or the A-pillar trim allowing water to leak into the cabin.

Check the following:
  • cabin air filter, if it is wet, then the cowl seal has failed;
  • the rubber door seals- you can tell if water is leaking in;
  • underneath the carpet (to mop up and dry out the standing water); and
  • the BCM- sits on right side of passenger footwell- any signs of water/wet carpet/ insulation indicate sunroof drain failure.
I noted some threads about these different issues above. A quick search will yield plenty of other threads on these leaks.

Because of the sensitive electrics under the passenger-side dash, you need to identify and correct the leak ASAP before your electrics get wet and malfunction. It has happened before to many drivers...
