Question Trunk Lid Stopper/Retaining Clip

My G37 Coupe's trunk opens too far, almost all the way to the rear windshield, I always thought the used car dealer used the wrong trunk struts and I just made sure to hold it with my hand to keep it traveling too far. Fast forward 150,000 miles later and they have worn out, I bought replacements and they do the same thing. Looked up some diagrams online and I think mine is missing some sort of retaining clip or part that causes the trunk from opening too much. The diagrams and part numbers are not too clear on what this looks like.

If someone could snap a picture of their trunk hinge it would be great appreciated!

Thanks

Pictures are too small and the side hinges are cropped out on most of the amazon post. Thanks for trying.

Found this on YouTube for a Q50S. Mine looks a little different and has two grooves where a clip most likely goes, I also don't have a black clip like the one shown here.

Here is mine (2008):
Full tilt (will not travel any further):

There is no such "clip" on the hinges to limit travel. The lid support "struts" are the limiter. Mine are the 2008 original units (yes, they look it). Are you using OEM or some other knockoff generic?

Pardon the dirt... still cleaning up from the damn Hurricane.

Let me know if you need any other angles.

Over the years I’ve had a 2010, a 2011, a 2012 [wife’s current ride] G37s and 2014 & 2017 Q60s, all coupes. In my experience the strut is the limiter for how far the trunk lid opens not a clip. I’d check to see that you have the right struts. Clip or no clip it can’t open farther than the strut will let it..

I went through a set of aftermarket struts and a pair of OEM ones. Convinced I bought the wrong ones I went to the dealer and had them verify the part number I should use, mine has no wing and is a coupe I was told 84430-JL01A. I bought two and installed them, same issue.
