Tire Sizes on AWD
Gents,
I have 2014 Q60S (Early q60 badge version on a late g37 body) and it is an AWD. It has the 19 inch tires on it and I am just wondering what the widest 19 inch tires I can put on the car without any rubbing or interference issue. it has 225/45R/19's on it now...was hoping to go for something a little wider.
Also given that it is an AWD do the tires all have to be the same size? perhaps do a staggered arrangement where the rears are wider than the fronts?
Thanks

I had 245/40/19 and it drove a lot better than my current set up 255/40/19 but it could also be due to a different tire brands. Just know that once you go wider the car will start to follow the road a lot more so you're constantly making adjustments.

hey man thanks for the response...are tou running the same tire size on all 4 corners? Have you experienced any rubbing or interference issues with the wider tires, especially the 255s

Yes I am running 255 on all corners, and no rubbing issues. I am also lowered on swift springs.

There are a number of ways to go from a square set up like 245/40/19 or 255/40/19 all the way around, or you could stagger with a 225/45/19 (front) and 255/40/19 (rear) or getting really aggressive with a 245/40/19 (front) 285/35/19 (rear). If you go the really aggressive route its possible you may run into clearance issues depending on what wheel size and offset you have as well as ride height. I have run 225/45 square, 245/40 square, 225/45 & 255/40 staggered, and currently have 245/40 & 285/35 staggered. I have aftermarket wheels with a fairly aggressive offset and am lowered to being flush with the fenders. I dialed in some extra camber and stiffened the dampers in the rear and I don't rub. I only have about 100 miles on this setup so I am still deciding what I like best. I am leaning toward the 225/45 & 255/40 but that may change with a few more miles. All of these choices keep the AWD happy as the diameter remains very close.
