V36 Trims

Hello there, a thread like this has probably been created before if so point me in the right direction.

I've always been a sucker of unique trims and being the owner of an Anniversary Sedan has intrigued me into finding what other special trims these cars come in since there are so many.

The reason I posted this in the Coupe group if because of the following. Business partner recently bought what we thought was an IPL trim coupe, we bought the car to scrap it since it has a certificate of destruction title, even after careful consideration we can't save the body. We however want to save the TRIM.

The car is a 2010 which to my understanding the first IPL came in 2011. No IPL badges ANYWHERE on this car but similar IPL style trim
The car has IPL aero without fogs
Monaco red interior
Sport trim
4was

We were told this car might be a Anniversary Coupe which would make it my sedans coupe equivalent. There barely any mentioning of this trim, everyone refers it to IPL and after careful inspection it is not a copy.
I would like to find or even create a visual thread of special trims since it would help the community in the future. If you have additional info on other things you've discovered on Coupes or even Sedans it would be greatly appreciated.

For the Sedan it appears that Anniversary edition is the best you can get
For the Coupe if what I posted is right then you would have the Anniverary trim, IPL - 6mt & convo as best of.

When I saw that car at that shop and he told me it was an IPL it also seemed odd to me in that it didn’t have badges or wheels. Is it possible that Infiniti offered the body kit as an upgrade and it’s just a sport with that upgrade?

I was under the impression that IPLs started in 2011 as well and I have the 2011. Mine didn’t come with IPL floor mats and my seats say Infiniti, not IPL.

It should be easy to check if its an IPL right? The have the red seats with IPL text (I think early ones don't say IPL though), the IPL floormats, exhaust, engine cover, bumpers, wheels

It looks like there was an anniversary edition in 2010. This must be right before they rebranded it as IPL.

Mine is 2011 and doesn’t have engine cover, floors mats, engine cover, nothing. It has the exhaust, body kit and logo on the back and that’s it (abs wheels but I upgraded those).

I guess this one @BULL linked is the anniversary and they used the IPL bumper for it, like a pre-IPL. I wonder if it has the IPL exhaust. Im guessing no.

Thank you for this Icrap, we were told the coupe was a Anniversary/IPL from an auction buyer but certain things just were not matching.

I think the main difference in all of this is 4WAS, all of these anniversary trims appear to have this in common: KAD, red seats, sport trims and 4WAS.

I also believe this is something that started in 2010 when the exterior changed.

Interesting thread! I just recently learned that the G37 / V36 chassis offered 4 wheel steering. Was this available in the states? Anybody know if it's any good?

I thought maybe it would help make driving around town a little bit easier with that assist, since I am on the longest V36 chassis ever made. (I guess that's why they tucked the back wheels in so much, to help ease of turning around town - makes the wheel fitment look atrocious at certain angles).

Yea that an Anniversary edition coupe. The IPL came a year later in 2011 and looked exactly like it but didn't have the chrome trim around the lower bumper grilles, came with aluminum interior trim instead of wood, and had different wheels, a different exhaust, and only came in rwd. The floor mats, engine cover, and trunk had IPL badging. Nowhere else on the car does it say IPL. To the average person they would think it was an IPL because they looked basically the same on the outside and because IPL doesn't show up on the Carfax. It just says Journey sport, or something like that.

….The floor mats, engine cover, and trunk had IPL badging.
Pt.1 Can confirm I have no chrome trim around fogs (thankfully).

Pt.2 I find this hard to believe. My 2011 legit IPL has no IPL badging on floors mats, nor engine cover. If that existed you’d think it would be on the actual IPL. I don’t think that started til later years. By trunk, do you mean the actual badge above left tail light? I don’t think this car had that either but I can’t confirm that. Or do you mean on the carpet in the trunk? I don’t have that either. My 2011 IPL has zero logos except the badge on the back.

Also note, looks like the anniversary coupe has the old all chrome headlights. I wonder if they have ATS? I wonder why they got rid of that? Isn’t ATS just good? Sometimes I turn abs can’t see SHlT

Just run the VIN. If the car is a true IPL, the decoder will state such.

We know it’s not an IPL, it’s like that white creature in alien resurrection, almost an IPL but not quite. Trying to determine what it actually had.

or do you mean my car. If you tell me I’ve driving a journey with IPL kit all these years I’ll…. 😭

If in doubt.... Check it out. That's all I'm saying.

As for the other trim levels (ie. anniversary, etc.)... half the time I don't think even Infiniti knows which car has what.

My 2012 has the IPL floor mats and engine cover. And yes the badging on the outside of the trunk.
