This forum has a VIN decoder and, yes, it does state if the vehicle is a IPL. I just ran a VIN:
It will also tell you if the car is a "Anniversary Edition:"
The decoder will state just about every detail attached to that VIN.

Interesting thread! I just recently learned that the G37 / V36 chassis offered 4 wheel steering. Was this available in the states? Anybody know if it's any good?
I thought maybe it would help make driving around town a little bit easier with that assist, since I am on the longest V36 chassis ever made. (I guess that's why they tucked the back wheels in so much, to help ease of turning around town - makes the wheel fitment look atrocious at certain angles).
It's pretty good, you barely notice it. I noticed it more when I had a steering angle sensor code. It would trip the rear rack.

The IPL came a year later in 2011 and looked exactly like it but didn't have the chrome trim around the lower bumper grilles, came with aluminum interior trim instead of wood, and had different wheels, a different exhaust, and only came in rwd. The floor mats, engine cover, and trunk had IPL badging. Nowhere else on the car does it say IPL. To the average person they would think it was an IPL because they looked basically the same on the outside and because IPL doesn't show up on the Carfax. It just says Journey sport, or something like that.
