2008 vs 2009 vs 2010 coupe issues

I've always like the G series cars and now have the chance to own one. My new job has a 40 min highway commute and I want a g37 coupe 6MT. I'm hoping to get a car with around 100k that will last me to 200k+. I'm pretty bummed how rare Athens blue cars are. Maybe If I'm patient enough I can find a blue one. I'm not in a rush and currently still window shopping.

Did some of the issues with 2008 g37s get resolved in 2009? I've read about all the changes in 2010 but it seems like there are more 2008 cars on the market than anything else. I typically do my own maintenance so if the price is right I'm ok fixing things on the 2008 as they come up. I take care of my cars but plan to commute 20k miles a year and participate in the occasional track day so I don't want to spend a ton on a car that's going to be used this much. I'm thinking 10-15k budget.

My main challenge is to find a rust free car. Working on old rusty cars is miserable and some of the ones I've seen locally have quite a bit of rust on them I may try and find a car from the south. I live in Indianapolis.

I'm probably an outlier; I've owned my 2008 G for over seven years now nd have not had a bit of problems with the car. Maintenance is all I've done to it aside from upgrading the sound system. The car has about 118K miles on it.

I would suggest you pick up your used G from either California, Arizona, Oregon or perhaps Nevada, Just about every other state uses salt during the winter. Southern states like Florida, Alabama, Louisiana an such can have rot issues with humidity but Ive seen clean cars come from those areas as well. Just be vigilent

I'm not sure about this but wasn't bluetooth added in the later years? You may want to consider that when you are looking.

My 09 has bluetooth for the phone, but not for music streaming if that's what you mean. In that case, yes, you're right. I believe bluetooth music streaming started on the 2010 models.

Paper rear timing gasket of 08, 09, 10, 11 vs metal gasket in the '12+ models. Those earlier years have a small chance of having an issue. Probably <9% you would ever have a problem but it's worth mentioning. Other than that, I've seen some mention of issues with sticky/bubbling dashes in 08 models but that might've been the only year affected? I'm not 100% sure so you'll have to have someone else weigh in regarding the specifics.

Don't worry about the rigidity of the car with the 40 min commute...I drag my car up and down the road 100 miles, five days a week and it hasn't missed a step. Even drove it with a blown CV boot and worn bearing for longer than I'd like to admit and it was a champ. TBH, I've started research for my next vehicle and it's really hard for me not to consider Infiniti with how well this car has treated me; despite axing the 6MT and keeping the 7AT on life support.

I can give some insight from my higher-mileage 08 g37s. Oddly enough mines Athens Blue, haha. I wish the paint was more resilient on these cars.
I purchased it in early 2015 with 95k miles certified at a local dealer for 17k.
It now is around 193.5k miles on the clock and I have gone through:
5 Full Sets of tires
21 Oil changes
2 Transmission Fluid Services
2 Rear Diff services
1 Spark Plug Change
1 Brake Pad and Rotor Service

I am now due for another Spark Plug change, and I have the Right-Front Wheel bearing whirring on me, which is to be replaced Wednesday.
This car has been extremely reliable even with basic mods.

The only Issues outside of Maintenance that I have had is:
The sticky/cracking dash- Normal for the year
The shifter assembly on the 5AT, switching to 'D' mode and not responding to Input.- Uncommon issue, but doesn't bother me enough to replace.
Water Leak issue on Passenger side; Leaks through both the tweeter area and also from the firewall grommet in hard rain.- Common issue.

I test drove a 2008 auto coupe the other day. It was great, I want one except manual. Up until then I'd only been in sedans. I've always like the coupes styling though. Most of my driving is just me with no gear but I did test fit the car seat and it will work fine for the rare occasion I need one in there.

Anyway I'll probably end up with an 08 or 09 due to budget. I dont care about bluetooth if I can just use a cable. Is there a 3.5 aux port? I saw rca ports in the glovebox. What are they for?

08 Athens blue, 6MT, 63k miles. I've owned it since new and done every lick of maintenance myself. I'm in maryland and no rust on this car.
zero issues
zero mods

great car and fun to row the gears at 5k rpm right on up through the gears.

Todd hasn't responded to my messages and the Florida car is still for sale. Is anyone located near Cape Coral, FL that can take a look at this?
