I wonder if we have different definitions of drone? Mine is the resonance inside the cabin, not the sound from outside. In any case, thank you for your feedback!
For me, drone is this loud hum that rumble/vibrates the car. I usually experience the worst drone about 1600RPM going 50mph giving more than 15% throttle. This is why I like to keep my RPM over 2K.

I was actually a bit curious how much of it was drone and bought a decibel meter. I got it yesterday and played around for a few minutes doing some readings. Semi cold start the car is about 80dB. Normal driving is 70-80dB, more on the 70 end. WOT is like 98. I don't think I topped 100dB.

When it's droning, it's like 80dB. So yeah it's not so much the loudness.

While I didn’t measure the sound level, you just described drone the same way I would. I have it with Tanabe, none with IPL (some sound yes, but not drone). Weird... thanks for the input!

Here's the oem SPORTS muffler with tanabe mid pipe Megan y pipe and motordyne ART pipes. Without the ART pipes
It's deep non droned uptick to S model which sounded better than my IPL muffler.

That’s the sound I’m after! It’s funny how we’re talking across two threads. Anyway, if I did that with IPL mid section and stock cats, would it be close?

Haha no problem man. I think it' going to be pretty darn close man. I had it with stock cats for a couple days waiting to put the arts on and it had a nice deep growl much better than IPL muffler and S muffler. I knew it was going to be perfect with the ART pipes too. I wasnt able to run with IPL H and mid but I'm thinking it'll be just what your after!

I trolled your YouTube uploads. Sounds great. Exactly what I want. I figured Tanabe mid is larger diameter than S, so the IPL H pipe must be even slightly louder/deeper than the upgraded mid (without ART pipes).

Side question: do ART pipes smell like the rest of TPs?I have TPs on my gen 2 sedan for 2 weeks and wanted to kill myself. I ask because I heard great things about ART.

yep smell is bad. I'm think of adding motordyne xyz pipe with HFC module to cut it down while running the ARTS. Just cant justify price adding a mini hfc because I deleted the fully functional oem cats and don' want real HFC
