New owner.. Here come the upgrades!
Hey guys.
I've been lurking this place nightly for a couple of weeks now. Two weeks ago, I picked up a 2008 white G37 coupe, 6mt with 114k miles.
The price? $11,999.
Why are these cars so cheap now? Wow what a nice car. I've driven a 92 Prelude, 2014 Accord V6 (Auto), 2005 Civic, 94 Integra, 2001 S2K and more, and this beats them all, in my opinion. It doesn't have the lightweight agility of the S2K, but damn does it feel better. More torque. More Horsepower.
Anyways, on to the upgrades. As a disclaimer, I have driven loud cars. I know how an I/E change will effect your ride's sound. I had a fully open twin loop on my integra, mandrell bent 2.5" throughout. I'm 32 now, and I appreciate the sound deadening the G37 provides.
With that said, I'll be going with the Invidia Gemini exhaust, as it is apparently the quietest one, aside from stock. Stock is way too quiet for how fast this car is. I actually found that adding an exhaust helped me slow down a little, as you draw more attention when you go up in power.
I was on the fence, but I'll likely be doing the intake as well, likely gen3 that everyone likes here. That, and damn does this poor guy need a clutch. I'll be getting the flywheel replaced as well. Which leads me to a question...
Where is a shop that I can trust with this car, in the east side of Los Angeles? I don't want your go anywhere that would get excited by seeing a car like this come into the shop. Additionally, it would be nice if they knew that DM flywheels can't be resurfaced, lol.
I've seen some G's out there in LA. Only one other white coupe g37 so far though. Who..?

Welcome to the group!
-If you're looking for a nice clean sounding exhaust with some gains your in the right direction. the Gemini is probably the quietest one out of the catbacks, if you want some additional sound without the power there is the tanabe axle back.
-CLUTCH- since you're planning to change out the clutch, you may want to look into swapping out the CSC and master also. They are known to go out in these cars pretty often 30k miles to whenever miles.. Mine from new went out at 105k (CSC).
Ended up going with: Southbend Stage 2 Clutch, w/ lightweight fly 19lb I believe, Z1 HD CSC kit. a LITTLE stiffer pedal but its nothing bad.

I don't think any shop is going to be floored and wow'd by an Infiniti g37 rolling into the shop. You're not driving a rare Italian supercar.
As for your question as to why the car is so cheap... It is 10 years old with 114k miles.
I think you're over valuing a car that has been around for quite some time now. Looking at your previous list of rides the Infiniti is the more luxurious of them all with the largest engine but these cars aren't rare or heavily coveted.

Congrats on the new vehicle! Make sure it's well taken care of and maintained, and you'll have it last a while. Regardless of the fact that it's not a "rare Italian supercar," or the perceived negative reaction of a shop owner upon arrival, you need to make sure to go to a reputable shop, or consider an Infiniti dealer even, to make sure all is up to spec.
This is a great looking vehicle, and whether it has miles or the model may seem dated to others, it will attract attention, and more importantly, allow you to enjoy it fully.

If stock is too quiet it is. Your not going to like the Gemini. I was in your same boat. 30 came from loud cars and went Gemini. Total disappointment unless paired with test pipes.
I sold it and went with motordyne. It was perfect in every way. My life changed few months ago and I started to part out my G to sell. Things changed again and couldn't afford to re buy the motordyne catback so I went oem SPORTS muffler with motordyne ART pipes and I couldn't be happier just as happy as motordyne catback.
btw welcome!

East LA, eh? I'm in Monterey Park during the week, so maybe I'll see you. I'm in a grey coupe, and my brother has a white coupe as well.
Specialty Z in Chatsworth or Corner 3 Motorsports in Laguna Hills are worth going to. They're a bit of a drive, but they know these cars better than anyone else in this area.

The forum states the #1 upgrade mod is a set of Anti-Sway bars. I've got a set of Eibach's for sale on the FS-forum found here.
