I drive a 2000 Acura TL as a beater/errands/commuter car and the G for anything else. I guess having a much slower sloshy car through the week helps me appreciate what the G really is, a nimble sports coupe. Its nowhere near a super car but I have every bolt-on and have beaten C5 Z06's, GTO's, Mustangs, SRT4's etc in a straight line and absolutely destroy them in the twisties so, its pretty surprising to most still being NA. Aka, I love my G and am piecing together my own rear mounted turbo setup and will love it even more after that. It's been the most reliable garage queen I have ever owned, knock on wood..

I was going to type out a long story and explain but I don't care. They aren't that fast dude, try it for yourself.
Edit: Just did a bit of research, they have 40-50 more horsepower. That's hardly enough to just assume they're faster. Not to mention I am nowhere near stock.

and as far as trying them... ive actually competed against them.. both on the road course at VIR and solo2 at the jersey and philly region..
a much better comparison than street runs imho.. fully bolted g is just approaching a stock c5 z06 makes in rwhp stock..
not to mention the gobs of torque..

I hope my post did not sound too negative. I really do like my g. When I walk up to it each day I am still excited about the look. I get compliments all the time. It's in pretty good shape for a 6+ year old car.
I have tried many mods and maintenance tips but still can't get rid of the lag. It may be in my head but it seems to be getting worse. The throttle response is not a crisp as it used to be and it seems to be more sluggish in all gears. Things I have tried.
Maintenance
Always run 93 octane
Throttle body cleaning at 40k, 50k, 60k. It really didn't seem to need it. No difference
New oem filters at 60k
Reset ECU many, many times...
Dealer updated auto trans programming. No difference
Ran a few gas treatments through a few tanks including seafoam. No difference
Ground wire mod. No difference
Mods
K&N Typhoon CAI Nice sound but no noticeable improvement in acceleration
Axle back mufflers. Nice sound but got drone at 2500-3k
Resonated test pipes. Best bang for buck mod I could actually feel. Got sick of the smell
Car is currently stock now with exception of eibach springs.
May try a full dual exhaust someday.

about the lag you guys have been mentioning, the throttle body cleaning always makes difference along with resetting the ecu, but I found once i started getting higher in mileage and age, drive line maintenance started making a bigger difference. i.e. changing the rear diff bushing got rid of some slop that had developed over time and brought back that great snap that pushes you into your seat when getting rolling from a dead stop. That and stickier rubber. The answer to life's problems is always stickier rubber

Do you have an OBDII dongle to pull potential codes?
Have you cleaned your MAF sensors (with MAF cleaner only!)?
How bout the stock cats? They're getting up there. As someone else mentioned, test pipes or aftermarket high flow cats will make a huge difference.
As for exhaust, and I know I'll get flack for this, but there are decent exhausts you can get for $500 shipped (or less) that are stainless, full dual exhausts with mandrel bends on eBay. A 370Z member bought one and actually video scoped the inside to check out the transitions and welds. All looked really good. Just a thought to wake your car up!
